surprise!

I was quite surprised to find out my thyroid level is very low.I have been on medication for about 15 years.I've been having alot of trouble for the past 8 mts getting the proper level. It's no wonder i find it difficult to lose weight!I was feeling like a failure.
Now with a bump up of thyroid med (i take the new strenght for 2 mts before another blood test, that's why it takes soooo long)
and a new fill tomorrow, maybe i can start losing like all you guys!

It was over a year ago when my PCP decided to test me for diabetes and the test result showed borderline thyroid. I had more blood tests done and went to a specialist who said I had to lose weight and wouldn't put be on meds. That's about the time I learned about the Band.
Thyroid should be watched closely, and I'm glad you are doing so. Hopefully you should see a change in you weight soon.
Good luck with your new fill.

I am pretty sure that losing weight will not improve your thyroid function, maybe you could get another test and see.Even if it's a little off you would feel some symptoms(fatigue, cold all the time dry skin, trouble losing weight)I developed a goiter since i waited so long to see a Dr and that will never go away but if i keep up on the meds and test hopefully it won't grow!
Between the thyroid, insulin resistance, family genetics and a love of FOOD i need all the help my lovely band can give me :D

I've been on thyroid meds since October of 2002, and retested several times since then. Losing a total of 70 lbs since that time has had no effect on my thyroid function.

I never had any symptoms that I noticed at the time, but in retrospect realized that my persistent fatigue was probably attributable to that. I'd been having a realliy hard time bouncing back from the birth of my second child, and after weaning from breastfeeding I was still an exhausted wreck. Anyway, all of this is to say that it's a good idea to treat a hypoactive thyroid no matter what your weight situation is. The meds are easy to take and have no side effects.
