Recovery time????

I work as a residential instructor in a group home for developmentally disabled adults. I am on my feet most of an 8 hour shift. My work includes medicine administration, bathing, feeding, dressing, personal care and laundry as well as paperwork, running errands (driving a company car with residents on board) and much more. I start my liquid protein diet this friday July 15th and am having LAP-BAND® July 29th. I am scheduled to return to work August 8th (after surgery). I have a high pain tolerance but am wondering if I will truly be ready to be back on the 8th. Any advice, comments, concerns would be greatly appreciated. I have read alot of past threads on recovery time.

Recovery time--every one varies. For me three days was all I needed. I had mine done on a Tuesday and by the weekend I was mall walking and taking my puppies out. It really varies though I have not heard of anyone who needed over two weeks.

pamstransky I took almost that same amount of time off and coming back was no problem. Only issue was I was a bit tired the first two or three days but I found getting back on my feet was actually good for me. It helped me to heal to "get back out there". I'm glad you're taking that bit more than a week off, it really will make a difference.

It is true that people heal at different speeds but barring anything unforeseen you should do fine.

Congrats on your upcoming surgery!!!!!

two weeks after my surgery I started a horseback riding class. Hefting saddles and tack, cleaning feet... Not light work, but I was fine. I little tired, but fine.

two weeks to return to work should be fine, but everybody heals at a different rate.

Good luck and congrats!
