Recommend a good protein bar

I was looking at protein bard at the grocery store yesterday and i wasn't sure wich ones to try. THey all seem to be pretty high in fat. Can anyone recommend one that is low in fat and calories with at least 18g of protein and not too expensive. Thanks!

I love Promax bars. I love U-turn or Detours as well. South Beach has some great ones and I use MetRx alot because of the high protein count.

My fave is the RocknRoll Bar.....tastes much like a PayDay Bar, is very filling, and has 21 grams protein.

Atkins seem to have the lowest in carbs and I think they are really good.

I also love Promax bars, and any Atkins bar other than the granola-type ones. As for price, the best prices I've found for any brand are at Trader Joe's. I don't know what it is about that store, but they are just always cheaper than anywhere else!

I agree with Waterlilly..I'm addicted to the Atkins Advantage peanut butter bar. 1/2 half a bar is enough to satisfy my sweet tooth..I think it has 19 grams of protein. Wal-mart has good prices on them too.

My nutrutionist is not too keen on those...but she agreed if I only bought 3 at a time and only allowed my self 1/2 a bar a day.

So far so good...

Just don't buy too many of one type until you try them...some I thought were terrible!

Alexandra,

Thanks for the Tader Joe's tip...I'll have to check that out. I was just thinking about that store today.

I love their Pomagranate (sp) juice....100% pure and a good value..that stuff is expensive at the supermarket...Though I have been staying away from the juice per nutritionist's advise.

My fave is the Zone perfect bar.. appx 15g protein 6 grams of fat appx 200 calories... they also come in snack sizes..
The bars are appx. $4 per box @ wmt.. (about 5 bars inside) (eight or 10 snack sized)
My faves are: strawberry, orange/cranberry crunch, mint chocolate.. they have peanut butter, caramel.. and various others

How many carbs are in these protein bars? The only ones that I have found that aren't loaded with carbs are the Atkins ones. Should I be worrying about the carbs or just the calories? I think the Atkins ones have 150 calories and are pretty tasty. The carmel nouget one tastes like a candy bar. I usually only eat half of one too. I figure if I am going to have a snack, at least it has protein in it.
