Newly Banded

I was just banded 4 days ago. I am doing okay. I have pain when I have to burp. Is this normal? It is also uncomfortable to take a deep breath in. Is this normal as well? Thanks for your response!

Yeah, I would say this is normal. In fact, I didn't re-learn how to burp for approximately 2 months post-op. Discomfort when breathing in??? I don't know. It could just be swelling. If it's really bothersome or if you don't feel like you're getting enough air then call your doc. I didn't experience any breathing problems from surgery.

Yep, when I first got banded, burping was pretty uncomfortable for me too. It was a bit painful for the first week or two. Now, I find I hardly ever burp. But, I do get a ferocious case of the hiccoughs on a pretty regular basis now.

I don't know about the breathing thing, I never experienced that. You may want to call your doctor just to be safe.

For about a week afterwards my breathing was a little tight when taking in a deep breath. Almost like a long day swimming at the beach. Is this what yours feels like??

You've just been through major surgery. It doesn't seem like it because you have such tiny incisions, but major nontheless. You are going to have all kinds of discomfort for a little while. You'll be OK.

you weren't given one of those little gadgets at the hospital to get your breathing capacity back to normal? It's like an exercise machine for your lungs. You have to keep the ball in a certain section when you breath in?

Anyway....I felt that too but, the gadget helped me take the deep breaths to make it go away.
