Question Nausea

I am really worried about the nausea factor with the band since I am quite a nauseous person to begin with. Certain smells make me nauseous and I even gag. I was just wondering if anyone experiences it a lot, a little, etc.
Thanks for the help guys!

VERY minimal nausea

Honey, I have a very strong gag reflex. Going to the dentist, for instance, seems like a life sentence for me. I have experienced very little nausea & in terms of vomiting, the only episodes I have had of that was this past WEEK when a flour tortilla (from a burrito) didn't go down so smoothly. Gag City!!! I did throw it up & do not plan on attempting burritoes in the near future. Other than that, haven't vomited the first time & have had barely even a 1 (on a scale of 1 to 10) of what you would consider nausea.

Best to you!!! Hope you have what I've had or LESS!!!

I feel the same!

WOW. I AM ALSO THINKING ABOUT BEING BANDED LIKE ASAP BUT THAT IS THE ONE MAIN THING THAT I AM SCARED OF BECAUSE I DONT WANT TO BE ALWAYS THROWING UP OR GAGGING. THAT IS WHY I WISH THERE WAS A WAY TO TELL B4 HAND WHAT U CAN AND CANT EAT BECAUSE I DONT EVEN WANT TO CHANCE IT!

Nausea was a HUGE concern for me too. I am very susceptible to it. The good news is that I am 3 days post-op and I have had ZERO nausea; didn't even have a tinge in the recovery room after the anesthesia. I am thrilled! I think you will do fine.

Honestly I hadn't even heard of a nausea factor until I read this post. I was banded 3-1/2 weeks ago. My surgeon gave me a prescription for anti-nausea medication in case I had a reaction to the anesthesia, but I have never had to take it. I don't know about potential nausea further on down the road, but I got the impression that when people throw up from eating too much for their pouch, they don't experience nausea as we know it, but as I haven't experienced that yet, I can't really speak to it.

I am the nausea queen! I am also the master vomiter...can do it on demand! However, I have never had one moment of nausea since my surgery...not even on the day of in the recovery room. This was a huge concern of mine and had me more anxious than the actual surgery. My Dr. required anti-nausea medication to be administered via IV immediately following the surgery and throughout the evening and next day of surgery. I was not sent home with anti-nausea meds and have been fine for the last month. Good luck!

Thanks!

I really feel so much better about this now after reading everyones responses. I figured I would do as I have done with previous surgeries and tell them how nauseous I get and they would give me something. I hate the groggy feeling but at least I know that I will be sleeping there overnight and not here with the crazy babies! LOL! I was really worried post op mostly - so thanks again!

Wow. I feel better as well. Thanks for all the information because as I stated that is one of my biggest fears of all is worrying about always vomiting. Anything u all suggest not to eat that may come back up?
