Mexican Food

Coming from Texas, most of our meals consist of mexican food. For those of you who have already had a fill, etc, what type of mexican food can you eat now.

I am scheduled for my first fill on the 14th, and so far I have managed to eat one cheese enchilada and I am full ( compared to before where I could eat a whole plate of fajitas ).

Just wondering what you can still eat --mexican food wise, as it is a meal that we eat several times a week in our household!

I'll eat enchiladas, beans and tortilla soup. I don't do too well with flour tortillas, corn is better. Guacamole is ok, of course. Nachos are OK...as long as they don't have fajita meat. I haven't tried fajitas...I don't think I would tolerate them well. Oh, and fish tacos...I love those!

I love Mexican food as well and we eat it often. I have been able to eat pretty much anything I wanted just not nearly as much. I do stay away from the tortillas though. They don't go down that great. But if I want fajitas I have them on a salad or just eat them with my fork.

Beware the chips and salsa. Those chips will slide right through.

I haven't eaten mexican in a restaurant since I was banded 3 months ago, but I have cooked tacos and fajitas plenty of times. I have no problem with any of them I just limit the nachos and I leave out the tortillas. I can eat all of these even with 2 fills (4 cc in 10cc band).

I too love mexican food and have added it back slowly into my diet. I choose chicken enchiladas with mole sauce when we go to our favorite restaurant (1-2, depending on size of enchilada). The mole sauce helps with the corn tortilla. If I eat a flour tortilla really slowly and carefully, I can have a bite or two (which is all I need, really). I steer clear of rice and the beans. I have also made beef enchiladas at home and haven't had any problem with the ground beef. I couldn't imagine giving up mexican food completely!

Give up Mexican food? Never!! Refried beans and guacamole are good choices, and I eat the middles out of beef taco's and burritos's with cheese dip drizzled over them. Flautas are crispy enough they go down okay with cheese dip on them.

Beans, beans, beans...with extra salsa.

At home, on taco night, I skip the tortilla and eat the meat, cheese and lettuce.

I've not had issues. Thank goodness!

I have found Mexican to be one of my favorites after banding, although there are few places here in Canada that do really good Mexican food. I love going to the states as you guys have so many more places for Mexican food.

For me 1-2 hard tacos makes a full meal. I am not able to tolerate torillas or enchilades. Guac & refried beans go great, just easy on the lettuce as it tends to get stuck if I am not careful.

I hear you about TX'ns & Mexican food! We love it, and eat it often. I never really liked the kind that is dripping in sauces, wrapped in tortillas, so my choices really haven't changed much. Fajitas are great, just eat the meat (never wrapped them before banding either). Anything grilled - chicken, fish, shrimp, beef, pork...easy choices. Tortilla soup anytime. Bring on the guac. Skip the flan, rice and beans, load up on the grilled onions and peppers. I cut back on the pico, too much acid. I would love to say I've skipped the chips, but at least I don't eat 2 baskets prior to a meal anymore! One of the hardest things is not downing 4 glasses of iced tea WITH the meal! Best put, go for the protein and fresh veggies:p

I love mexican food! I stay away from the chips and salsa. I usually go for the fajitas or a chicken dish minus most of the cheese they put on top. Corn tortillas go down a lot easier than flour tortillas so I lean towards them. I love the grilled onions and peppers.
I am also from Texas and we do LOVE our mexican food.

I can eat enchiladas really well. All other mexican food fills me up really quickly. Get ready to take leftovers home.
