I think what saves me from PB's (so far) is that I have forever had a slight case of emetophobia. It's not serious enough to warrent concern but it does make me fear PB's enough to where I go out of my way to avoid it. It's probably why I'm still losing weight. (although I haven't figured out how to move my ticker thingy, lol)
BTW..Anyone else out there who was banded by Dr Rodriguez in Acuna? I'd love to here from ya

I've been doing it about 2x a month ... almost always when I eat too fast, especially towards the end of a meal. I should be more careful, because I slipped my first band and I may thus be prone to slippage. My surgeon put a stitch to form a "bump" right above the band on the front side of my stomach to help prevent slippage w/my second band. This is a technique she learned from Dr. Ponce in Georgia. I hope it works because I have definitely put it to the test... :(

I've PB'd three times, and each time after exercise. I think I have to either eat before I work out or wait an hour or so after.

I also find that if I eat when I'm ravenous, I tend to get the 'stuck' feeling.

This is quite the learning curve.

I know I am asking myself for trouble when I eat on the run...or snack without thinking...usually I bp 2-4 times a month.

Thank god I have only PB'd once at Thanksgiving. I knew I had gone to far with eating and took that last bite anyway. I barely made it to the front door and BINGO. Will not make that mistake again I hope. I have tried to slow done and chew to mush. If thats the wost thing to happen then this is all worth it!!

I have been banded 7 months. I never had a PB episode til about 4 months ago.
Most of the time, mine is more the golf-ball with slime, which I do 2-6 times per month).
I THINK I have only had true PB 3 times in the past 4 months.
I am always terrified of band slippage. I had a terrible, terrible episode of sliming, gagging, pb'ing about a week ago. It lasted for 30 minutes. I have never had that happed before. It was on wheat toast.
I don't feel any different but I go to the doctor next week and I am worried.
??? Did anyone know before going to be checked that band had slipped???
What did it feel like????

What exactly happens and how does it feel when a band "slips"? Does this mean it comes off the stomach and must then be removed? How long before it can be replaced? I am pbing on solid foods and occasionally on thick liquids.
After my third fill, I can barely keep liquids down. Occasionally (about 3 times/week) I can eat solid foods & keep them down. I am losing great amounts of weight but my fill Dr. is 300 miles away. I am trying to be careful but the basic nutrition is not there. I have been hoping that with some major weight loss, the band would loosen and be less restricted. Does this happen? Or....do I need to get an unfill?
I need some experienced advise! Thanks

After my third fill two weeks ago, I have had 4-5 episodes.
I am not sure if you would call it vomiting or pb'ing.
It wasn't sliming but I felt nauseous and like I was choking. I would begin
coughing and bringing up small bits of food and saliva.
And its usually after only 2 or 3 bites of food.
What is this?? How can I prevent it???
Strangely....after waiting about 30-45 minutes, I can usually eat my regular size meal without any trouble.
Why does this happen sometimes but not others????????

........:( :( :(
.......worried about slippage.
Missy

I pb almost daily since my fourth fill. I guess it's just getting used to more restriction and learning to slow down!!

Yes, slipped band means the band has slipped out of place, not necessarity off your stomach. It can be very dangerous!

It is certainly possible and likely that the band will loosen after a big weight loss, however, you should be able to eat solid food every day, every meal. I know it sucks that you have to drive so far to get unfilled but what you are experiencing does not sound normal at all to me and you most likely need an unfill.

Good luck!
