On our local news last night they reported that 2 ladies had died having RNY this past week in Des Moines at the same hospital. My understanding both surgeons had done the proceedure many times.
Sure glad I chose the LAP-BAND^®

I think with any surgery you take the risk of death.
I am very pleased with my Doctor and with my choice of getting the band!
Funny, I was waiting in the DR office and this lady had her mind set on the Y surgery. My guess her weight was 250. Unless you want to be a size 5 in 6months and take that health risk-I just can't understand why more people are not wanting the band. It is so much safer than the Y.
Oh well!

I asked a gal in group about her choosing the RNY over the LAP-BAND^® and she said its because you don't have to keep going back to your surgeon every few months for the rest of your life
she was probably about 250 also
