Unhappy Has anyone experienced this?

Friday night for supper I ate more than what I should have. Saturday and today I have super restriction. Liquids even hurt. I tried to have a snow-cone yesterday and 1 bite and it would not go down and Boy it hurt. Just wondering if Friday night I possibly irritated my stomach and now it is swollen? I am gonna do just liquids, as much as I can, for a couple of days and see if things get better. Just wondering if this has ever happened to anyone else before. Thanks

I think you've diagnosed it well. Once you irritate the stoma, it can swell for a few days. You might be able to look back at your surgery to see how sensitive you were for how long post-op. If I really irritate my stoma, I count on liquids for a day or so, just to be on the safe side.

Sue

P.S. Although my doctor advised chipped ice for such occasions, many people find that cold causes more restriction. You might want to try warm-ish chicken broth.

I had a couple of episodes of super restrictions, even liquids go down very hard. But the good thing about mine is that it always goes away... Just make sure you dont get dehydrated kelly..

I agree with Sue, I think overeating all by itself can cause some slight irritation or something that takes a day or so to resolve. I find it very helpful, because as we all know it takes only one or two departures from the straight and narrow to make us really discouraged--enough to make me give up altogether in the past. But now I don't have that option! It's the coolest. When I overdo it my band lets me know it, and that's the path back to good behavior.
