I thought that drinking with my meals would be a problem, but as it turned out, once I started chewing my food really well...that took care of itself. Eating sweets however has continued to be an issue.

I still havent master not drinking after a meal. Actually I would say I start drinking about 15 mins after. Not alot but I always feel the need for liquid after eating.
The other habit that I have finally after 7 mnths learned to do is eat slowly & put my fork down between meals.

State: Pennsylvania | Right now the hardest thing for me to do is to stop eating when I start to feel full. Most of the time I am able to and I leave it alone, but then there are other times I just want to keep eating that yummy corn/green beans/potato. My band keeps saying no! All I want is a little bite but the band won't listen so I do stop. I just stop a little late where I have the uncomfortable full feeling which I really dislike by the way! Before surgery I thought that hardest thing would be giving up soda but that doesn't even bother me now! Once in a while I do drink when I eat but not everyday or everytime.

I too have trouble not eating at night. It's such a long standing habit, I think it will take time to change. For now, just trying to snack on nutritious things and not go overboard.
I am getting used to not drinking while eating. I make sure, before a meal, that I am not thirsty.
I am still able to chug water. I just don't do it when I'm eating.

I'm a water drinker. I looooooove my water. I drink heaps and heaps of it. Not drinking during meals or directly after has definitely been the hardest physical challenge for me. To get around this, I try to plan my meals for when I have to do something straight afterwards. Ie, I eat breakfast (if I have it) right before I have to leave the house. That way, by the time I get to the office, enough time has passed for me to drink. I have my lunch, then go for a walk. At dinner, I'll have a bath afterwards or clean the kitchen .. anything that keeps me busy for long enough to where when I finish, I can drink.

My hardest habit I have to work on is eating slowly!!! My husband and I both used to wolf down our food like it was a race. My husband still wolfs his down but I am trying my hardest not to, every now and again it catches and me and bite me in the a$$ but I keep trying. I also find that if I am really hungry that is when I eat too fast and end up having problems every time.

Oh, and stopping after dinner is gone. I have a hard time putting my dirty dish away and calling eating time over. Always gotta get a few last bites of something in.

Late night sucks!!!! :heh:
I'm trying a fiber suppliment that's supposed to help you feel full and help food cravings. The other day I took it at 6pm. Worked great until about 12:15 am. Then I had a bowl of cereal. Wish I had just gone to bed!

and Beer. With a beer on the side please. Did someone say beer? If there's no beer, I'll settle for a Lager. What? Fine, I'll have a bitter...
Good bye old friend.

Nite time is the WORST! So I try not to have to much snaky stuff around.
And not finishing something, like a sub sandwich, before I would eat a whole 12inch sub, now I can only eat a half of a half. If I go slow the whole half sometimes. Being full on a small portion(normal) is weird.
I still guzzle water between meals, no problems.
