Is this a good idea?

Hello everybody! Well I hope your weekend went well. My questions are I just bought the Isopure Vanilla Flavor that has 50 g of protein per serving (two scoops=1serving). Well I know FaithMD mentioned it is better to have 25 g at a time, so should I half my serving to one scoop which will equal 25 g twice a day? Maybe one for breakfast and the second after dinner? That way I get the full 50g of protein. Because I asked the cashier and he said since Ispure is so pure I can take the whole serving for breakfast and then half it later. But I think he just wants me to waste it sooner. What would you do? I tried the Isopure Vanilla with water (yuck) it is better with skim but I am scared of the calorie count. HELP!!!

p.s I forgot to mention that the full serving of Isopure is 210 cals (for two scoops) another reason why I thought to halve the serving.

I'd divide it to make sure you absorb it all. No reason not to divide it, unless you find that the 1/2 doesn't fill you up, right?

It isn't a matter of how "pure" a protein product is, your body simply doesn't absorb that much protein in one sitting. What you don't use needs to be burned or it turns to fat.

....and there IS a limit to the digestive processing volume....I don't know what the exact limit is, but over stressing the kidneys, liver, and other organs with TOO MUCH anything will contribute to 'an inharmonious outcome'....

Gout, for example, is of course the build up of uric acid crystals in the joints....years ago I read a convincing argument this actually was a form of Protein poisoning, due to over saturated nitrogen-dumping apparatus....

I believe there is a point where 'too much' or 'too little' is a moot point....emotionally AND physically our bodies do far better as creatures of moderation in order to remain in within the normal homeostatic ranges of all our vital blood chemistries....

Simple imbalances such as sodium/potassium, oxygen/carbon dioxide, and many others, contribute to how healthy we may be....

Protein requires a long sequential chain of digestive steps in order to extract the energy contained.

Too much liquid protein in its own way is not much better than too much sugar....

EDIT TO ADD:

the excess nitrogen as part of the 'hydroxyapetite' molecule, a component of uric acid, IIRC, was believed to be from the purine breakdown of proteins....but I'm getting old and sometimes I remember things that are no longer the case....

I haven't had time to follow up this notion....

I'll just follow Jack around nodding.

I was of the belief that there's only so much your body can absorb at one time. The rest just means you have expensive urine and/or your body will just store it as fat.

Thank you all for responding. I guess I will just halve the serving that way I get in most of the 50g of protein. I don't know what the guy was saying but he was a body builder type (uses Isopure himself) and he was suggesting I take in one gram of protein for every pound I weigh..WHAT?!!! Wow, that means I would have to drink Isopure all day everyday and probably wouldn't even reach that amount! I am a nursing student so I understand the over working the kidneys and such with so much protein, I didn't think it was a good idea, but I am not the expert.
Thanks again, if you have any other suggestions I am all ears!
