I had 24 milli-liters of gallstones in my gallbladder when I was 15. Had it removed. Gallbladder attacks are the most painful thing I have felt in my life. I am not banded yet but I will be in November.

Wish you luck.

I had my gallbladder removed in 2003 at the age of 30 after a big weight loss. Weight loss can trigger gallstones. It's a bigger surgery than the LAP-BAND® because they have to cut inside (I had mine laproscopically which almost all are these days). It took a few weeks to recover but you will. Good luck

I had my gallbladder removed about 11 years ago (I only got my band a few weeks ago). It was done laprascopically and was an even easier surgery for me than the LAP-BAND® was. I don't know if the fact that you have a LAP-BAND® in your body makes any difference to the surgery process though, I wouldn't imagine it does but I'm not a doctor.

I had mine removed about 4 years ago. The worst pain in the world. Now if I didn't have to eat to survive I would have been fine. But once I had something to eat, Little knives were gutting me. I ended up having it removed in an emergency surgery, 2 weeks before it was scheduled to come out. It took twice as long because when they went in to remove it it was trying to pass a gallstone through the tube to my stomach and they had to inch it back up to the gallbladder so they could remove it. At least that's what they told me. Which woud explain the emergency. It was a interesting feeling when they asked me what I wanted for dinner that night. My experience was always pain when I ate, so to be able to eat and have no pain, was awesome.

I got my band 7/07 and had my gallbladder removed 4/08. I'd have to say that it's a similar type surgery as far as the pain and discomfort goes - pretty easy. However, I think mentally it's easier than being banded because I didn't have to play the all liquids game.

I highly recommend getting a panty-type of girdle because my belly hurt alot just above my belly button where the big cut was and because I had already lost 100+ pounds my belly was kind of jiggly. I put a size 14 bathing suit on and it was tight fitting on the belly and I noticed a remarkable difference in the pain on my belly because I didn't have the jiggly effect going on.

I had my surgeon who did my band do the gallbladder surgery. When I had my LAP-BAND® put in I had big issues with nausea so I had him unfill me for the gallbladder surgery as a preventative measure. However, I didn't have nausea this time so I got the fill put back in the day after gallbladder removal.

Good luck.

Take care.

Sue
