First Fill Amounts?

Wondering what amount is normal for a first fill. I am 6 weeks out and next week I am having my first fill. I have started to feel hungry so I know it is time. I am concerned about getting enough of a fill to cut back on my hunger.

The amount depends on which band you have. My wife's band is the Vanguard and her first fill was 6cc. After the last one (fourth) she was up to 9.5cc.

If your band is the small one, I've heard that they go somewhere in the 2.5cc range. It's up to the staff....

I have the VG and it had 4 cc's in it from surgery. On my first fill they took me to 6.2. I felt nothing. Fill #2 a week later took me to 7.6. Still NOTHING. Fill #3 a week after that took me to 10.0, which is PERFECT. Still on the open side compared to what I read others experience, but I'm doing well with it -- almost no PBs, no problems with food textures yet I don't really think about food much. YEA!

For the smaller band, I think 1.5 is the most common first fill. I've heard many that do 1.0 and some that do 2, but lots that do 1.5. You don't want to be too tight, particularly if your doctor has a liberal fill policy and lets you come back until it's right.

I have an Inamed 9.75. My first fill was 1.3cc and I still feel restriction 10 months later.
We are all so different, take it slow if you can. If you have a plan for free fills for the 1st year...you can always go get more.

I have the Vanguard Inamed band and my first fill at 8 weeks post-op was 1.5 cc's. That did nothing. I went back a month later (6 days ago) and they put in another 3 cc's for a total of 4.5 cc's and THAT finally did the trick. I now know what restriction is but have never had a PB so I think they got it right this time. If your surgeon is like me, he/she will start slowly and then make adjustments as needed.

I had 1 ml in a 4lm band - I think that roughly equates to cc's ie. its the same thing.

I have a 10cc band and just had my first fill last week. I got 1.5cc. He tried 2, but the water came right back up. I am glad we didn't go anymore because when I had no restriction I had gotten very lax on the bandster eating rules. I had a rough time for 3 days after that first fill relearning those rules. Now that I have things under control, I will probably go back for another fill in about a month, depending on how I am doing.

I've got a band that holds 4cc. I started with 1.5cc at my 6-week fill. That didn't help much. A week later I moved up to 1.75cc; that was better and I stuck with that for a bit but I have been stalled for awhile even with a fill to 2.0 and then 2.25. So I just jumped to 2.75 last week and that's much better.

The great thing is that whether it's too loose or too tight you can get it adjusted again right away. (unless you've got one of those nutty docs that insist on some arbitrary time between fills whether the fill is working for you or not)
