My fills are free since I was self-pay and had to self-pay a revision surgery.
But, I looked into another fill doctor closer to me, his 'visits' are free, if you need a fill, he only does it under fluero..if insurance doesn't pay, it is $150.
My current doc did have to do fluero several times, so the hospital charges me, and my insurance picked and chose ones to pay (probably based off of it saying LAP-BAND® or not)...and the ones they did not pay ran me about $200.

My insurance paid for mine last year. I only had a $15 co-pay. But I got special permission to have in-network pricing for 6-months since there is not a bariatric surgeon within 50 miles of Corpus Christi on Aetna. Well, the special arrangement is up, and I still have to pay my deductible. UGH! My doc said that the fills are only $175. Okay....I can handle that at 80% instead of 100%. When the bill comes, that doesn't include the doctor visit. Total, it's $240. This first one I have to pay all of it because my deductible of $400 hasn't been met yet. After that I pay my $15 co-pay and 20%. Insurance is such a nightmare........

Our doctor in St. Louis charges $500.00 for a fill and insruance pays about 100.00. The hosp. charges about 1,000.00 for the x-rays and gets about a 100.00. We have UHC and is covered 100%.

I could possibly deal with 200 but I have yet to hear from anyone that is being charged $1500 like dr.Avara does from Ocean Springs Mississippi,That in my opinion is WAY beyond reason!!!!!!!!

I was self-pay for my surgery. My fills are free (well, "included in the cost of surgery" is the way they put it) for the first 13 months after my surgery date, after that they are $150 per fill.

It would seem that it certainly should be a part of anyone's research to find out what fills will cost down the road!! Like Jack said, it's only about 1 minute of skilled care + about $5 worth of equipment!
My doc charges $150 for a fill w/ fluro; $100 w/o fluro and $0 for an unfill. (Dr. Spivak, Houston, TX)

bigjim....just a thought if it's $1500 in Mississippi why not fly to St.Louis and get them at your old price? Still has to be less than $1500. Are you from St. Louis orginally? I am originally from there myself. GO CARDINALS!!!
My fills are $100 cash, my first one billed against the insurance @ $400. I have never seen a bill for that one and I am not about to call and ask.
Good luck!!!

#26 | | | My new doc performs all fills under fluoro at the hospital. I pay a standard $50 outpatient co-pay at the admissions desk, then the hospital bills my insurance company for the remainder. I got curious after my last fill in May and the hospital billed my insurance company for $428.00 - I was in the radiology lab for all of 9 minutes at most. OOPS - forgot to mention that all of my fills for the first calendar year were covered under insurance (meaning, I did not have to pay the $50 outpatient co-pay at the hospital). When I go for a regular office visit, I don't pay a co-pay at all and my doctor just bills my insurance company.

My last two fills cost me approximatly $3.00 each since i am now doing self fill. I can also take the time to add only small ammounts to prevent problems, I am thrilled with the outcome .

BigJim (and anyone else who self-fills): could you please tell me the particulars on that? I have considered that as well.
My first fill is next week. It is either going to be $15 or $400, not sure.

I guess I'm lucky. My doctor charges zero. We get nine free fills a year (January-December). I think if you need more than nine a year, that it is $150.00 a fill.
I had to pay a certain amount to him up front. I'm assuming my fill costs were included there. I still haven't received all of my billing from the insurance company, so I'm not sure as to the specifics.
