Clear Protien Suppliments

For the first couple days after surgery my dr requires a clear protien drink for my meals. He and the nutritionist recommend Isopure.

I see there are all sorts of flavors out there and have read some other posts that indicate that they are nasty. Can anyone suggest a flavor worth trying?

Are there alternative clear protien drinks available made from as high quality of protien as isopure?

Actually, Isopure makes a clear protein drink. I didn't think they tasted bad at all. The Grape Frost is the best but the Pineapple one isn't too bad. Didn't love Fruit Punch so I added some Crystal Light Fruit Punch to it and it was much better. 1 bottle is 40 gm of protein.

The premixed (liquid) clear Isopure is good, most of the flavors are fine. I particularly like the Alpine Punch and the Apple Melon. But the powdered variety, while cheaper per gram of protein, is simply disgusting. It does not dissolve well, is chalky, and has a nasty aftertaste. Spend the extra money and get the bottles. Plus, you can sample different flavors easily this way. If you get the powder, you get a huge, expensive tub of one gross flavor.

I buy the Isopure flavors at GNC at the beginning of the month when it's all 20% off with the Gold Card. I wouldn't call them gross, but they're a little intense for me. I find if I add an equal amount of water, it's easier for me.
Definately an acquired taste, not a drink that suddenly pops into my mind like, "Hey, wonder if there's any Isopure in the fridge, I could sure go for a cold one."
Not hardly.
But you can only drink vanilla and chocolate protein shakes so long.

I use the pre-mixed IsoPure, buy it at Vitamin Shoppe. I prefer the punch, raspberry, and orange flavors.

Having a bad day, thanks for giving me an honest chuckle! Don't ask me why but I really found that funny! You seem to have my sense of dry humor....

There is also IDS liquid protein vials that are 42 gms of protein per 3.1 oz. They come in grape, fruit punch and orange. If you dilute half a vial in about 10 oz of water and ice, its not too bad. Or, I mix 1/2 a vial in diet cranberry juice and it really isn't bad at all. (Diet cranberry juice has 5 cal per 8 oz) I'm not a big fan of protein supplements...yucky!
They seem to be more affordable than isopure. They run me about $2.65 a vial compared to more than $3.00 per isopure. Doing 1/2 vial between bfast & lunch, and lunch & dinner (1 full vial/day) supplements my day pretty well. Good luck with finding the protein supplement that works for you!

Nectar (brand) makes wonderful clear proteins.......lots of fruit flavor and a wonderful cappacino flavor. They are good espcially if you add more liquid than it calls for.....I mostly mix mine with Chrystla Lite or SF Koolaid or iced tea (or hot tea)
