Does anyone else remember gaining a lot of weight right after surgery (the 2-3 days after, I mean) due to water retention and/or swelling?
I've gained 10 lbs since my removal surgery 2 days ago and I've hardly consumed any calories at all. Of course, what I HAVE consumed has been broths that are high in sodium. Still, that seems extreme to me.
Anyone go through anything similar with any surgeries you've had? Is this remotely normal?

My Dad just had surgery (Feb 20) and gained a ton of water weight from the IVs. His surgery was long (he had a Warthins tumor removed from his Parotid gland in his neck-benign) and he peed forEVER for days getting all the fluid out. So, yeah, it sounds normal to me. Hang on a few more days and give your body some time. When it doesn't need the hydration so much it will let it go. Drink your water! :)

Another gainer here. I didnt weigh for 2 days and when I did I was still up 6 lbs. It does come off over the next few days. I assumed it was a combination of the I.V. fluids and fluids from the swelling. Hope you are doing okay with the unbanding, you've been through the wringer.....
Oh definitely Jonathan!
Of course when I had my band removed I was 15 pounds dehydrated (230) when I know my regular weight at that time was 245. After my band removal surgery I was 255, but that 10 pounds came off with drinking lots of water.
Take care guy!
