Important for lapbanders vitamins and calc

I was reading in the american chronical that lapbanders need their multivitamin and calcium everyday, and the ones who have had gastric bypass also need vitamin b12 and iron daily. Gosh got to remember the tablets daily,no excuses now!!

walmart has a chewable multivitamin that is supposed to be good, this is what my nutritionist suggested. I should be ok on calcium with the amount of dairy i will be eating, but she also mentioned that tums are a great way to get the calcium in. I am going to have a "daily reminder" pop up on my calendar so i don't forget!!!
:)

There are a lot of ways to sneek in vitamins! When I make my morning coffee (decaf or half caf of course!) I toss in 1 tbsp of Carnation Instant breakfast, 1 tbsp of Benefiber w/ Vitamin B, and 1tbsp of Ovaltine, which has lots of vitamins in it. This brew tastes like a mocha, and has a good chunk of my daily vitamins in it.

The Viactive chews are also pretty decent, and of course, if you work in high nutritional value fruits and veggies you can get a lot of vitamins without taking the supplement! I try to eat spinach, blueberries and apples regularly (not together of course).

I was bewildered by all the vitamin choices, myths, and advice.

I went to see a Naturopathic doctor, who, based on my medical history, medications I was taking, etc etc prescribed "the right" combo of vitamins for me........I take a powdered multi, made by genestra, I also take a sublingual B12, and vitamin D in drop form. I also take flaxseed oil, fish oil, and benefibre.

Previously I was taking a regular multi gummi chewable, and the Naturopath told me that it was essentially a waste of money because of the poor quality of the ingredients used to make these type. She gave me some brand names of better quality products. I have been able to find some at Whole Foods and others at a Natural Dispensary.

This getting healthy is hard work ! lol

Good luck on your journey
