I'm starving........

How long after a fill can you eat solid food? I go for my first fill at 2:00 today and I'm already so hungry! I was told not to have anything to eat for 8 hours before fill and nothing by mouth for 4 hours before. Does this include water?:hungry:

celeste,
your fill person will give you instructions. for me it is the rest of the day liquids then mushies for 2 then gradually up to solids, but follow your surgeon's directions.

sorry you are so hungry ... it should be better after your fill.

YOu cn have water as it passes through the band. My doctor doesn't say anything about eating after. Its his recommendation to stay on liquids for 24 hours then mushies for 24 hours onto solids after that. He said I can't eat 2 hours before a fill. Good luck.

Every surgeon's instructions are different. Just remember to stick to room temp water (if you drink anything) within an hour or so of the fill. Cold fluids make some people spasm a bit and you won't get an accurate fill.

Typically I am LESS hungry after a fill, an whatever the process may be for several days I am *emotionally* less hungry as well...

Sometimes I haven't noticed much in 'restriction' for as much as a week or so....but in following my fitday.com records, I'm averaging nearly 100 calories/day after each fill than before.

None of us has died from lack of eating for a few days....I don't believe "starving" sensation lasts very long in any case. I have tended to simply fixate on WANTING to eat rather than heeding the 'am I HUNGRY' sensation.....I much prefer now, the 'GETTING hungry' sensation and the subtle sensations of a growing physiological process, rather than the 'eat it NOW' habit I had for so long....
