Question To ice or not to ice?

What's the scoop on use of ice in drinks during the fluid stage? The docs never mentioned anything about its usage. I noticed in some threads folks were saying using ice isn't the best thing. I prefer all my liquids cold...but I can forego it if it is not a good thing.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

BTW, I'm doing better...hubby got me some protein powder.

I've been having a lot of apple juice; gawd it never tasted soooo good!!

You want to feel out how restricted you are. Personally, I had zero restriction until my 4th fill, so cold drinks didn't bother me until then. Cold tends to constrict the stoma, so if you're tight to begin with, you don't want to make yourself tighter. That's also why some of us drink hot liquids before a meal to loosen up.

My motto has always been to try it out before vetoing it. Take small sips, see if you can feel the water going down, and adjust accordingly.

I'm with you Yoda, I perfer cold drinks and have had to give them up since reaching proper restriction. Cold drinks, including water tightens up my band so much so now I keep my water and any non-carbonated drinks on the counter and drink them at room temperature.

Good suggestion on drinking something warm before a meal StrawartS. I have such a hard time now that I have proper restriction. Not because of the band, just after almost a year, I still haven't learned how to chew slow enough.
