I hope this isn't it...

I was banded back in April 07, from then until now I’ve gone from 307 at the time of my surgery to 250, I was down to 248 as of two weeks ago but for some reason I’m now up 2lbs to 250. I have a VG 11 band and from 5 fills so far a total of a little over 6-6.5 cc's (if I remember right) This is the first time I’ve gained since I was banded and not sure what to think of it.

My diet hasn't changed or has my exercising, I'm just wondering if I’ve hit one of those 'plateau's' and I’m retaining water, body hasn't adjusted..Etc or something along those lines.

I've read a few past threads about people plateauing but wanted to know if anyone could please give me some advice.

From what I have read here in the past, it sometimes help to change up your diet and/or exercise. Go real low carb for a while, or increase/reduce calories, run instead of walk, lift weights instead of aerobics, etc. Do you have good restriction? Do you need another fill?

I feel like at this point I have 'pretty' good restriction (seems like it varies day to day almost). I could probably use another small fill but really threw me off seeing as how my weight loss just came to a complete stop and even backpeddled a little.

It could be a combination of things, but if you are keeping your carb intake low and exercising I think maybe I would try for a small fill and see if that does the trick. I don't know how much you are able to eat right now but it might help. If it's too tight then you can get some removed. It sounds like you are very close to your sweet spot though.

Are you recording your intake in a food log? Sometime you may be consuming more than you think you are if your aren't tracking it religiously. You can also go back historically and see a trend when you do start to see weight gain, i.e. carb intake went up on a certain date, weight was up the following week.

Otherwise, just try mixing it up a bit.

The contents of the colon can add several pounds at times; and relative hydration can add water weight.

Weigh a gallon of water and tell us what you get. Add extra salt to your diet for a few days, your water volume with increase to keep electrolytes in balance....there's a number of plausible reasons for those 2 #.

Personally I had an 18 month plateau, with scrupulous record keeping of calories in, with resultant 8 ounces *YES* 1/2 POUND gain!!!!

still, I recognized great changes in my body shape and pants size decreasing.

Suddenly I dropped nearly 5 pounds....

At 250#, that 2# is far more terrifying emotionally than physiologically significant. That's less than 1% body weight....and using a different scale or having different shoes, a belt or a billfold on can change that.

Keep your goal in mind, stick to your plan, and we'll all meet down by the river to laugh at our little freak outs....

cheers....

Thanks for the advice Jax

Maybe it's just 'extra weight' in my colon, my wife is always telling me i'm full of $h1t so maybe that's my problem :biggrin2:

Thanks to you as well Jack for your advice, I always enjoy reading your posts.

Horns....everyone is bound to hit a plateu for whatever reason. Based on your ROCKIN' avatar, I suggest you bust out some Van Halen (my favorite band of all time) and burn som calories !!
