Hair and Skin with Lapband

Since the surgery my hair has not been as healthy and my skin is really dry. I have been taking all my vitamins and have been getting enough water and protein. Maybe a good shampoo or lotions might help? Any suggestions would be great!

I use an "Over The Counter" supplement called Biotin 1000 mcg. It aids in nail and hair strenght. I also use a good body lotion after my shower while skin is still damp for extra supple skin. Hope it works for you...

I take a good multivitamin, iron and fish oil and I do really try to get a really good diet - protein is important but you need more than just protein - you need plenty of fruit and veg for healthy hair and skin. Biotin certainly helps a lot of people.

The other thing you need for healthy skin and hair...

...is fat in your diet. Really. I think a lot of people experience problems with dryness partly because they eliminate fat (either altogether or nearly so) from their diets. We need a little bit of fat. This may or may not be you, but I thought I'd throw it in there!

Thanks for the advice everyone. I think i'm going to try taking some flax seed oil and see if that helps.

Hi Needol,

You really need to pamper yourself during this process.

There are a ton of great moisterizers and conditioners on the market that don't cost a fortune.

I use Paul Mitchel conditioner. I think it's called "the conditioner". It's really not very expensive. It's a leave in conditioner, but you can also use it to shave your legs and you can mix it with water and spritz on your body. I would never be without it. I have used this for years.

I also use Dr. Denese from QVC.

I'm 50+ and did not want to come out of this process looking like I aged 10 years and so far so good!

You really need to take care of yourself!

My skin is dry as well. I noticed the skin on my thighs looks dry and loose. Really yucky. I just purchased some St. Ives lotion that says "skin firming" on it. Hopefully religious use of this will help that dry puckery look to ease up a bit. I lost a good bit of hair, but it's all growing back. I have fine little baby hairs all along my hair line. Another 6 months and it will be back to normal.

Aubrie,

I started using Women's Rogaine from the beginning as I have fine baby hair. It has worked great! I received a compliment that my hair really looks thicker.

I was a little reluctant to start using this, but now I'm glad I did.
