Ok I'm so sorry to post this hear but I don't know who else to ask.
I've got cramps so bad I want to die!!! What can I take? I've been drinkin' liquid tylenol like crazy but it's not making a dent in the pain.
I know we can't take asprin or Ibprofen. So what can I take?
Today it got so bad that I was almost throwing up from the pain. That's not good either since I can't throw up and have managed just to lie down and not move.
I'm dyin' here! And I don't know any people that have has a band besides you guys. So again I apologize but can someone help?
Thanks!

Can you take naprion sodium/ Aleve. I use to have awfull cramps before my hyst.
I do not know if you can have it with the band or not but if you can IT WORKS GREAT.
Take a hot bath or get a heating pad. They have these little heat pads like hand warmers you squeeze them and they heat up you can where them in your panties.Hope this helps.

I do not have a band yet, but can tell you Valerian Root (sp?) is the only thing that helps me when I cramp badly. You can get it at Walmart or GNC, Vitamin Shoppe etc. Formula 303 is what I take most of the time. I was given this by a Chiropractor and have never stopped using it. It helps cramps, and will even allow you to relax to sleep if you have insomnia. The Formula 303 is a tablet that can be crushed. Some of the OTC come in capsules and if you search Valerian at VitaminShoppe.com you will find several liquid forms. I would get the one with Passion flower in it too. But please be aware, I am not a doctor, this is just advice based on my personal experiences. http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/browse/...e=SearchResult
Do you have a dog? Or a heating pad? My schnauzer will sit on my lap. The heat and pressure seem to help sometimes. Or it may be the lovin'...
Get well soon!

Thanks for the suggestions! I think aleve is a no with the band but i forgot about the little heat pads that you can wear.
I sat in a hot tub for about an hour this afternoon and it worked for a bit and then it started getting really bad again.
I used to get super sick in High School and college. I would be out of comission for two days. Finally my dr. gave me some prescription stuff that helped. But I haven't had cramps this bad in years.
Ugh. i hate periods!
thanks again!

Ouch!!! I am so sorry! Right after my banding I felt the same way. Talk to your doctor. See if you can find liquid ibuprofen. Ibuprofen isn't supposed to be good for the band, but it's the only thing that works for my cramps. And a little bit of ibuprofen is WAY better than throwing up from the pain.
My doctor doesn't mind if I take the liqui-gels. You shouldn't have to suffer like this.
Good Luck and let us how you're doing.

if you are in that much pain, please call your doc. There is no reason to be in that much pain! I'm so so sorry.
The therma-care wraps were one of the the only things to help, but please be careful that you don't burn yourself. Do not fall asleep wearing one of these pads. (I've ended up with a 2nd degree burn from one of these little gems. *sigh* one way or the other, you know...)
I ended up in the ER because I was throwing up from pain from my period. Please, please call. You should not have to suffer.

I asked my doctor about this, and he said taking ibuprofen a couple times a month is not a danger. Take one at a time, see if it works, take a second if necessary were his instructions. (must be size of a tack or smaller too) - obviously ask your own doctor...........but I use it once a month, for 2-3 days.

There is a wonderful pill you can take called Percogesic. It is a safe analgesic with Percocet in it, and it's over the counter. You can get it at Wal-Mart, Longs, and most other drugstores.
If I was 25 years old again (and I'm not :-) I would just tell you to smoke a joint. Oh, I miss the old days..............

I'm glad I read this thread. I didn't know that most OTC pain relievers were a no no.
You might also want to try some hot tea. I like anything with peppermint to help me relax. Also, blackberry tea will help you remain calm and centered. The warm teas and soups sometimes help my tummy. That is if you can convince yourself to have more soup!

This past year I started to get those cramps from Hell as well. I get a black cup of coffee and add a little pepper and take sips till I feel it warm my innards. Usually works within a few min for me.
