Question Does the Band Expand?

I went for my 4th fill and I'm at 2.5cc. When I went for my 3rd fill, the doctor gave me 3.6 and I couldn't keep anything down, even water. I went back in 2 days and he unfilled 1.00 cc. When he did the unfill, I felt quite good. Now that I'm at home on the day after, I can only eat about 1-2 oz. without PB. Anything more, I will need to bring it up. I feel this is the sweet spot, but I want to eat just a little more,(at least 1 oz. more). I want to know will the band expand eventually to allow me to eat a little more, or do I need to get more unfill. Please let me know as soon as possible!

Thanks,
Carolyn

Hi Carolyn -

NO, the band does NOT expand. It is possible (likely) that as you lose weight, your restriction will feel less, because you will also be losing weight off your internal organs (i.e. stomach).

Do liquids for a day or two, since your stomach was just adjusted twice in a short amount of time. It is possible (likely) that your extra restriction right now is due to stomach swelling, that will recede if you do NOT continue to irritate it with food.

Once the swelling goes down, if you are unable to eat without PBing you need to have even more fill taken out.

Good luck!
