I was banded on March 3rd 2005. The surgery went really well and I am surprised at how easy I am finding the liquid stage. The only problem that I am having is I cant get the thought out of my head about the thing in my body. I know this must sound silly but it is really worring me. Dont get me wrong I am still glad that I got banded, and have even noticed a movement on the scales.
I am hoping that this is just a normal reaction and it will go away. If anyone else felt this I would really appreciate hearing from you to know I am normal. | |

HI Jazell,
dont worry, it'll pass!
Soon, you wont think about it... other thoughts will consume your mind, like hunger. :)
Then you'll be wondering if there really is something in your body.
I remember the first time I felt my port under my skin, it kinda freaked me too. We go through mental phases as well as food phases, and in a month (after your first fill) you arent going to be giving this much thought. I promise!

I had the same crazy thoughts too. I'd be sitting there thinking, omg, I've got a strange object in my tummy, then I thought of all the hips and knees that get replaced everyday. At first I wouldn't touch the port, now I push it all the time to make sure it's still there, where I want it! Enjoy your band.

Wow, so you can really feel the port? So, ok I have to ask this one -- will my husband feel it if he lays on me??? Yucky, yucky.

I find myself rubbing my port sometimes absentmindedly. It's my own private security button and I love it. My DH has never noticed it.

I am so in love with it. It has finally made me feel normal (body, spirit and mind). My husband teases me, which one should he rub!! ;)
Another way to look at is: There are heart surgeries that install plastic like ours all the time. These surgeries are even done on babies and young children with no problems. If a person needed it to live they wouldn't think twice.
Also, the same materials are needed for hip replacements. Look how often those are done. Or how about you have a car accident and bones are smashed, you have to have rods or pins installed permanently.
Just look at the band as what you NEED to live a healthy life and appreciate that your body will love you for taking care of yourself. :squareeye
