I think it is perfectly normal to be nervous about it. It is surgery, and life altering, after all. You are making a big change and leaving one of your best friends behind (food).
Yes, there are risks, but they are pretty small. The informed consent form? That is usual and customary for everything they do. I even had to sign one of those when I had my colonoscopy.
Most of us went through the *what do I think I am doing* stage, and the *I should just try harder* stage. I kept thinking about how many failures I've had. I just didn't want to have yet another one. I looked at this as my last chance. I still have a few more years to go and I wanted to enjoy all of them.
I have no regrets.
