Lower BMI Bandsters!

Hi Audree, Someone suggested herbal life recently for me too. Are they vitamins, appetite suppressants or what?

I am getting another fill next week. It is scary, because I do get stuck a lot too. I don't pb though. I just have to be careful to cut my food up tiny and chew well. Sometimes I just flat out forget. I wonder how much worse it's going to be with another fill. I am not going to ask for an aggesive one though. I only have 2.0 right now.

Hello Everyone:

I haven't posted in 4EVER. Sorry, my life seems like it's been on a roller coaster. Just when I think it's slowing down, I go over that hill and the rush is on. I'm doing good. Down 30 pounds. I think I've lost more inches overall. My husband is loving it!! Well I'm working the night shift and we only get a 30 minute lunch so I have to go. I will try to get on and post some more. I did update my ticker.

BTW: I'm starting a fat blocker on 6/1 called chitosan. I got it from GNC. I will let you all know how it works! It's not that I can eat fatty foods but, hey I haven't tried this one yet!!!

Hi Audree,

I was banded on 26th May 2007 with a BMI of 30.7 which is usually unheard of in England but i did have contributing factors.
Its wonderful to see everyones progress & massive amounts of weight they have lost. My loss will not be massive in pounds but will be massive to me.

Thank you for reaching out - its a lifeline amongst the liquid diet, wind, ports hole & over all crappiness feeling - but I know its gonna be worth it.

Hi everyone! I'm new here. I've been going to the different forums and noticing the higher BMI's out there and was beginning to feel guilty about going to Monterrey for the Lap Band procedure. I'm glad I found you guys! I have a BMI of 33.3. My hope and goal is to lose 70 lbs. but will be thrilled with 55. Does the weight come off alot slower with a lower BMI?

My experience is that, yes, it does. But it also could be my age (57). I just know that compared to my "bandsisters," I have only lost about half of what some of them with higher BMI's have lost. So, FWIW. But, a pound is a pound is a pound--no matter how long it took to lose it, right?! Good luck!

Yes I think it takes longer b/c we are only changing our eating by a few hundred calories not thousands and maybe just leaving out starches etc.

It's been coming off slowly for me too. I started at 212 and I am at 180 now, 5 months later.
The first 22 lbs I lost within the first 4 weeks while I was on the liquid diet.

I am getting another fill on Wed. and I am really hoping that it's going to help and I will start losing again.

Hi everyone, I've just joined the forum and it's great. I had my band fitted in January 2006 in Bruges by Dr Dillemans, and no-one knows about it except my husband! It can get quite embarassing when eating out with friends but I'm managing to keep it quiet so far. I was 14 stones when I started and (even though I was paying myself) a lot of Drs in the UK were uncomfortable about doing the surgery for me because at 5' 7" I wasn't classed as morbidly obese. Eventually I went to Bruges and got excellent care (really good price too). It's been 16 months and I'm now hovering just above twelve stones - need to lose another two (although I'd be ecstatic to get to eleven!).
:help:Question:- For the past two months or so I've been getting a bit of acidy reflux and a sore throat which seems constant. I've also had ear-ache which I went to my GP about and he has referred me for more tests. He didn't link the ear-ache with my op or the sore throat, but after reading some of the stuff on this forum I'm now wondering if I might have GERD?

I just got banded on May 25th and I called the Doctor complaining of the same - ear pain but not really and ear ache, burning and sore throat. He is putting me on Nexium 40 mg. daily. He says this should clear it up. It must be GERD. He thinks it will go away as my body adjusts to the band but the medication does not have many side effects. Talk to your doctor. Maybe he'll say the same.

Well, I guess it can be a combination of things. I do a shake for my breakfast meal, a protein bar at lunch time with another shake (easier for me at work) and come home to a very nice dinner.
I do take vitamins and an appetite suppresant called Total Control. It does take the edge off.
They also have protein water like a Crystal Light type thing, protein chicken cream soup, soy nuts and protein bars for mid day snacks that are supposed to fill you up. I have tried the soy nuts and like them and the lemon chocolate bars.

I will probably buy the others later too.
Herbalife is not just a weight loss thing. It is supposed to help with health conditions and detoxing the colon. I feel really good and have a lot of energy.
See if this gets me off the stupid platueau I have been on!!!!!!!!!

Glad to see you back here. I have been on a plateau too but I am getting a fill tomorrow. I hope that helps me. Do you know of anything that actually speeds up the metabolism? I had a resting metobolic test taken and it showed I have very slow metabolism.

HI Paula!
Congrats on getting banded!!!! The good thing about being a lower bmi is you get to see results faster. I didn't lose slow and I am maintaining well.

so after I got banded the nutritionist came in my room to talk to me about a few things and then let me see and hold a Lap Band like the one I now have in me, then she showed me the needle that they do the fills with. umm that looks like a preety big needle and it has me a bit nurvous. However everyone claims that it really doesnt hurt to bad, Is this true????? Im am not much of a wimp, but still it looked simalar to the needle that my epidural was done with:( I am just wondering

I never feel anything when I get a fill. I have heard of others that it takes them awhile to find the port. Mine is over in a couple of seconds and it's pain free.

yes, me, too. I get a numbing shot first and that stings for about 4 seconds and then they do the fill and I don't feel a thing. I have a bruised spot for a few days so the needle must be big enough to cause a bruise but, because of the angle I lay at with a pillow under my back and the way they bring the needle to the table, I never see it. It's very easy and painless!
