City: Lincoln Park State: NJ | NJ Gal - on top of being embarrassed I have the sister in law from hell who I have known my whole life. She just called to give me the run down of her walking...lucky me!! I have been walking for almost 3 weeks and it is starting to show. Watch for destructive folks like that. Don't let them get in your head. What I tell people now is that I will report when I hit the big 5 0. I tell them flat out I don't go pound for pound. They have now left me alone. It is a hard battle we fight every day between the scale and expectations huh???

| LadyBug: Sounds like you have your head back in the game! It's true you don't want to be overtight, then you'll be eating soft, easy to go down food that won't stay in the pouch. It's a fine line with restriction: too tight and good healthy food won't go down and bad food will: too loose we can eat way too much.
I am still learning from reading on this forum and I have to get MY head wrapped around that I HAVE to help my band and then my band will help me. I have a feeling I will have to remind myself of that often.

I am hoping to actually like it one day!

| Yeah, exercise is my problem. I was walking three miles about 5x a week before surgery and haven't gotten back since surgery. I think I can get my head back into it when the weather is better.
I was actually enjoying the walking and feeling better because of it. I'm good once I get into a routine, it's starting the walking I have trouble with. I talk myself out of it becasue I say if I can't get out regularly it won't work and the weather prevents the regularity.
It's good that you have discovered how exercise helps. I think it's going to be very important to us for maintenance!
I do enjoy gardening and I will get into that again in the spring.
I'm happy with my weight loss, but what fat person doesn't want to lose quicker? I'm ahead of some and slower than others, but it's ok for me. I was always a slow loser before and this has been the fastest I've ever lost weight.
My mantra now is: work on getting it off first, second, work on keeping it off!

City: South State: La. | I guess I should be on this thread. I have lost on average 5.8 lbs a month, but the scale is not going down since lifting weights but I can tell the inchs are coming off. Just remember this is a life long decision we have made. No need to try and drop it all in one year.

City: North Vancouver State: British Columbia | Well written NJ Gal. I have been married 36 years and as time goes by, the small slights don't seem to matter as much anymore. We have morphed into best friends. We have our disagreements true, but I can't remember every going to bed angry. We both found a way to ease the tension either by apologies, or being extra helpful, whatever. Again well written NJ. Doddie

City: Lincoln Park State: NJ | Doddie - my hubby and I have been married for 20 years and we are the same way.
Took a 4 mile walk today with Kim from work. We had a great time. She is 23 and I almost kept up with her! She said she had a good workout too.

Some people are a little more blunt about it than others, but sometimes it's the LACK of bluntness that pisses me off the most! Like my fiancee's family sometimes say little things that make me realize that they're "dropping little hints" about what they think. Sometimes I wish they would just SAY IT! LOL! Although I can't say I eat too well in front of them so no wonder they don't understand But that's my own fault....even though they always cook these "southern comfort" foods! So damn fattening! LOL! I'm from NJ and not used to the fattening foods as much! But, again, that's my own deal and I need to have more restraint. Oh well! One day we'll show em right, lady?!

City: Lincoln Park State: NJ | We can't let them beat us NJ Gal. What is that saying - keep your friends close and your enemies closer!! It is so true!! Use their attitudes to keep you motivated. I try to keep the phrase - MOVE MORE, EAT LESS in my head lately. It is working. Hope it stays that way. Hang in there!! You can do this!! Our weight loss is not a race but a journey.

City: North Vancouver State: British Columbia | HI: We are having news article one after the other about obeseity and the failure of the medical profession. A study by an obesity clinic found that 1 our of 5 doctors felt repulsed when they had to treat an obese person. That they deliberately skipped examining them and used the old phrase "loose weight". The obesity clinic said that psychological, genetics played a huge part and that the medical profession had better start examining how the treat us. Relatives I can handle, but I can't get over my feelings of unworthiness when being examined by a specialist. Not one of them recommended a gastric band to me. And by examine, I mean a stethoscope was used. All said loose weight exercise more. Thankyou pay the bill on your way out please.
With the band, my BP have been reduced, the diabetic pills have been reduced and yet not one specialist was interested in what I had to say. Just the usual loose weight, eat less. Good by.
I wonder why I ever go to them. Doddie

City: Loganville, near Atlanta State: Georgia | I know, I'm sure I'm eating less since my last fill, but I'm not seeing the scale go down. I need a new scale anyway, even though this one is not old. I need a digital one so it does not fluctuate. This one has the pointer bouncing all over the place and it will give you two different readings, one right after the other.

State: Oregon | I am having a lot of problems posting because I am out of state and have to use the computer at the library. It takes forever for a page to load.
It's really frustrating to me not to be able to have my own scale here. It probably sounds stupid. According to my dad's scale, I have lost 5 lbs. But I could get all excited and get home and find that his scale was different from mine.
I am also bummed out because I haven't been able to get to a gym I need to exercise. I get grumpy if I don't. I have trying to get him into an assisted living home and get his house ready to put on the market. It's
overwhelming. Exercise gets out my frustrations.
Plus my dad doesn't know I have the band so he is always asking about the way I eat.
Anyway, this probably all has nothing to do with slow losers unite.
I can tell you one thing though, flying really screwed up my band. I was so tight for the first 2 days here, I was miserable. I have heard that flying can tighten the band.
oh well, hope all is well with everyone. I will say again, I hate using the computer at the library.
