will I ever get the hang of this

Hi I was banded on March 5 07, with a 10cc band. Not sure what the 10cc stands for, i'm sure has to do with size. I had my second fill May 1st, 1cc. Today for lunch I had about half sandwich of chicken salad and about three tablespoons of chicken salad by itself. I have had no problems. Should i be able to eat this much or is this not much.. Not sure what is to much and what is not.

From what I have read around here and on other boards, about 1/2 to 3/4 cup of food at a meal is a good amount.

10cm can be how long your band is, and it holds 4cc's or 4 mL's (depending on which you prefer to use), unless you have the VG or Vanguard band, that is a 10cc band.

Do you have access to a nutritionist with your surgeon's practice? I would suggest that if you can, make an appointment and go over where you should be at this stage post banding. Nutritionsists are very helpful (most of the time, if they are properly trained, that is).

I have a 10 mm band and it holds 4 cc full of saline, and is also refered to as a MEDIUM sized band

They say you can put a little more than 4cc's in the band, but it is not recommended.

As for when you get the hang of things, please let me know when you do. I am almost a year out and have not figured things out.

If it only holds 4cc's then it will get fast full wouldn't it?? I mean I already have 2cc's in so far and only had surgery March the 5th of this year

Not necessarily. Its taken me 18 months to get to 2.5mls.

Now as to whether you're eating too much - are you losing weight? If you are then its not too much, simple. If you're not then first you evaluate food choices and if those are good, then you think about a fill.

If you have a 10cc band, it may take more fills to get your ideal level or restriction. 2cc in a 10cc band is alot different that 2cc in a 4cc band. Maybe verify with your surgeon what you have. I would think 1/2 a sandwich is ok, depending on the size of the bread and how much filling you put in.

If you just got a fill, didn't your doctor tell you to be on liquids for at least 24 hours after a fill?
