| very confused about band and fill-10cm band holds only 4 ccs?
I am reading my surgical report and it says I have a 10cm band. I just had my second fill on thursday, I went from 1 cc to 4cc. I still have NO restriction at all. I thought that I had a band that holds 10 cc, but I keep reading on here that a 10 cm band only holds 4 ccs. I went to Inamed and the serial number they list for the 10cm band is the same as mine on the report (b-2220)
I am so confused, others on here are at 1.8 or 2 and have total restriction, is it possible I am filled to the max and have none?????? I was self pay and am going to burst into tears if this is the case. Please if anyone is awake let me know what is the truth!

The Inamed comes in 3 sizes. Mine is the smallest 9.75 cm, then two others one of which is 10cm. This only speaks to the diameter of the band, not the volume for restriction. The 10cm is the size not the volume it holds. Hope that helps.

Please double check and make sure its not .4 that was put in! That decimal point is real important! I have the same size band as you, my first fill was 1cc with NO restriction-after two weeks I was able to go back and they put in .5cc. I have just now begun to feal something!! Good Luck.

the serial number of the band is 11857323. My Dr. thinks I may have a leak. I am quite upset about this. He states my band holds up to 5cc and that something is def. wrong with no restriction at 4cc

BTW....a VG band is not a Vanguard band....two different animals!! LOL!!
The Vanguard is something they use in Europe, but not in the US. Yes, it's confusing.
I have a VG....my first fill was 3.6, so was my second. I am in need of another fill now (it's been 4 mo.).

I am definitely going to see what he can pull out of monday. If he pulls out all 4ccs then I have a major problem. Has anyone else had this happen? If so, was it a punctured tube or another problem?

Leatha, are you asking me to look at that info? I did last night when I looked up the band capacity. Am I missing something?

City: Houston area State: Texas | Mine is 10cc VG also Hello Prasman, Here is my two cents worth. i have a 10cc VG band also. I started out with 2cc's. Then I got a fill of 2.5cc's, still could eat like I wanted to. Then last week I got another 2cc's. I can definitely feel the restriction now. There was a poll on this website or somewhere that said that the average fill to get to restriction for folks with a 10cc VG band was 8cc's. My doc wanted to be very careful and give me 1 cc at a time. I had to insist on more. And thankfully he did give it. He said that if I didn't feel restriction this time we would have to investigate under flouroscopy. It took several days after this fill to start to feel something. Last night I tried to wolf down a home-made cinnamon roll in my old fashion and OUCH :speechles it was definitely an eye-opener. So long story short : at about 6.5 fill in a 10cc VG band I finally have restriction. So take heart!!

He could be right. It's a 10cm band, which should only hold about 4cc. Make sure he tries to pull back any saline that is in there, BEFORE you allow him to cut you. It COULD be that he missed the port. | THAT IS GOOD ADVICE. LISTEN TO LEATHA_G and ASK YOUR DOCTOR TO TRY TO PULL BACK ANY SALINE FIRST.

HI everyone, well it turned out that the Dr. missed my port all three previous time she tried to fill me (thank goodness that I do not have a problem!) He found the port this time and put in two ccs to see if I felt restriction. I sat up and drank a sip of water and BOY did I ever have restriction! I was so happy to finally feel something!!!!!!!!! He took out .75 so I have 1.25 now. I am thrilled this was the problem and not a leak/disconnected tube/port flip or any other scenario I was imagining. Thank you all for chiming in and helping me through this. Hopefully one day I will have enough experience to offer help and not just recieve it!

If so, was it a punctured tube or another problem? | I too have a 4.0 cc band and right now I have 3.4 cc's in there with NO restriction! The flouro always shows the fluid going through very slowly, but by the time I get back on solid foods I can eat as if I don't even have a band! This is my second band. I had a new one put in this summer. It's the same as my first band and on the first band I was too tight at 3.0 cc's. I am very confused! The doctor draws out my fluid before he fills me to make sure it's all still there and there is no leak. So far it has all still been in there. He's three hours away from me so he doesn't know that I still have no restriction. I am going to see him again on Dec 22nd and I am going for my 6 month post op check up with my surgeon. I will have LOTS of questions for both of them!

Ladies, I am lost on the different sizes and manufacturers. Please help. I thought I had researched all I could then found this post. I'm going for my second seminar Febuary 6 and want to make sure I get what I want...only I'm not sure what I want yet besides a band. Please elaborate on what the differences are. I'm 350, 5'8" and have a medium to large frame. I had heard someone say that a "large" band was best, but cannot find any evidence. Please send opinions, links, whatever resources! thanks...Kathy
