Restricted in day, wide open at night - to fill or not to fill?
Hi everyone!
I hit my sweet spot about 4 months ago and was losing at a steady state by staying pretty tight in the day and eating a little more in the evenings. The daytime restriction has remained but I feel wide open in the evenings now, and am starting to need more to be full. I have also started gaining slowly.
My question is, do I get a small fill? I'm worried that if I do, I might be so tight in the am that I cannot even swallow my own saliva. I can barely get solids down in the mornings, as it is now.
Has anyone had this experience and what did you do?
Ann

I am glad you asked that question. I have the same problem. I am confused on whether to get a fill or not. I decided today that I would shoot for the middle of May to get a fill. That will give me some time. I am anxious to see what post you get. Just wanted to let you know you are not alone in this problem.
I spent six months once and 3 months the next time trying to find that exact balance to avoid the 'too tight AM' and "too loose PM" Blues....
Too often the pursuit of this fragile balance left me unable to get my hard proteins down during mid-day....not at all what I believed was a healthy Bandster life style.
I came up with a solution that makes sense and is quite satisfying.
re: "starting to need more to be full. I have also started gaining slowly."
By this I take your comment to mean you are eating more. Enough that it really is OVER eating, if we can be blunt about it. That means we are eating more than our physical activity can burn off...so what is left is an accumulation, once again...on our thighs, our hips, around our hearts...
We all want to avoid this.
If so, the error is in application of one of the Principals of Bandster Life.
Many Bandsters were raised with the notion that "full" = "not hungry" and "hungry=not full".
They are not the same. It is an error of thinking, and an error in eating behavior. It is what made us Morbidly Obese, IMHO.
Normos eat when they are hungry, and stop when they are NOT hungry. "Being full" is not the term that describes this.
"Satiety" means being aware that we are no longer 'hungry'...put down that fork. Put down that spoon. Put away that plate of stuff...it might as well be donuts, all it does is make us fat again if we overeat. Get up and go do some physical activity for a while.
We all stuffed ourselves for decades striving to feed something that doesn't respond to the normo cues of being 'not hungry'.
We have to retrain ourselves, to stop eating the moment we are not hungry.
This is time for discipline.

Hi Ann, Alot of folks are tight during the mornings. I know I usally can't eat breakfast until 10am and I get up at 5am every day. I have to go slow and chew well and only certain foods will work in the morning. I'm usually ok for the rest of the day. You don't say when you can usually start to get food down in the AM or early PM etc so I'm assuming you mean you usually can't eat until supper? That may be wrong but, limited information here. If that's the case.....in my own opinion I wouldn't want another fill because in order to keep your metabolism going ok...you need to eat at least a little something in the AM hours. Also....if you're feeling you can eat more at night...maybe you need to adjust some of the things you eat to something more fiberous or takes longer to digest. I know there are times i've been able to eat quite a bit...even though I know I shouldn't I know I could. It's definately a mind game.....head hunger is what they call it. So are you REALLY hungry or is it head hunger where you tummy isn't really hungry but, because you can fit more...your brain is telling you you are hungry? I know for me...it was head hunger and that's one of the hardest things to fight. I wish you the best with your issue...don't forget there is no harm in asking your doc what he/she recommends. That's what they are there for :) I know I just talked to mine and I ended up with a fill after 5 months of no weight loss after my last fill. I wish you the best with your decision.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions.
I usually have a protein shake for breakfast, or 1/2 of a chewy protein bar, soup or a Lean Cuisine for lunch at work (I can usually eat only 1/2 of it and it has to be soft food like thier meatloaf and mashed potato.
By dinner time, I can pretty much eat anything, as long as I chew well, and if I don't watch it I can probably eat as much as my pre-band portions! This is very depressing because most evenings after dinner, I feel like I'm a failure because I hae eaten more than I typically need to.
I will call my Dr's office on Monday and see what they suggest.
Thanks again
Ann

Good idea. It's so common for people to be tight in the morning and loose at night. I will be anxious to hear what your doctor has to say. I hope
they are able to figure this out because so many people talk about this situation.
