ooowww!

I had an aggressive fill yesterday. I drank a hot slim fast for dinner around 7:00. I went to sleep about 10:30 and kept waking up, coughing and choking. I did not pb or slime but I ended up sleeping with lots of pillow at my back so I was somewhat sitting up. The coughing scares me. Today i had small coffee, and a cup of tea. I also have been drinking a warm slim fast over the last three hours. Since i just had the fill, I would like to tough it out and see if things loosen up. However, that coughing...I am going to have nothing to drink after 6:00 tonight in hopes I won't repeat last nights experience. My chest is pretty tight right now. Any advice?

Hi,

Can you please explain what do you mean by an "aggressive" fill? How big is your band and how many cc's are in your band so far?

I think I had 7.2 cc's in a 10cc band. I believe my doctor mad it 7.8cc's. She said that since i have lost weight, I should be able to tolerate this much.

I think that you should contact your doctor especially since you are coughing through out the night. I was told that is a definite sign that your band is to tight.

I experienced the same thing. I had to get unfilled a bit and also stop eating 3 to 4 hours before I went to bed.

Just went through this last week-end. I thought I would loosen up a bit with warm liquids. I was able to drink small amounts over a period of HOURS and then it would start coming back up. Coughing started, my band got tighter and tighter, and I wasn't able to swallow my own spit. Sounds like you're too tight. Get a small unfill.

Thanks to all who suggested I see a doctor. Today Sunday, two days since fill, and I was miserable. In the past month I lost 5 pounds. In the last 2 days, I lost 6 pounds more. It is really hot outside so I was concerned about dehydration in addition to my pain. And yes...coughing is a sign of tightness. So this morning I called the emergency number, was seen and had a partial unfill. I feel so much better and i am spending the afternoon, in air conditioning, drinking fluids to rehydrate. You guys are the best!
