First Fill 5/7 3 cc's??

Had my first fill this past Saturday and was given 3 cc's. Dr Hermosillo said
that a normal first fill is anywhere from 1.8 - 2.2 cc's. I am able to drink
and keep down liquids with no problem. My concern is reading thru the posts
is that when it kicks in that it may be too much restriction? Has anyone had
any experience with this?

thanks!
Rhonda

Hi Rhonda!

This does seem a little aggressive for a first fill, but everyone is different. This may be a little tight for some, and not tight enough for others.
If you find that you are not able to drink water then you may want to contact your surgeon's office and get an unfill.

Good luck!

Rhonda, What kind of band do you have? I have a Vanguard 10cc band and my first fill was also 3cc. Had very little restriction until 3rd fill. I have to admit that I don't know what cc's I'm at right now because My surgeon and I differ. I'm sure he is right and I will find out the correct cc's soon.

Terri, It's the Inamed band. My card says maximum fill is 4cc's so I hope
I will have good restriction since 1 more cc is not very much leeway down
the road. So far, I haven't started on solids yet. They
said to start the whole 6 week process over again. Liquids, Thicker Liquids,
Mushies, etc.

I think it seems agressive, but your doc knows what he usually does.

Once you're back on solids, you should be able to eat 2-3 ounces of protein, 1/4-1/2 cup of veggies at a meal and feel full. Remember, full now means NOT HUNGRY--not Thanksgiving day stuffed. You should feel "full" for 3-4 hours after eating.

You might need another fill after this one if you aren't tight enough. But you might be tight enough, but getting in too many calories or too few calories or not enough protein or not enough water. How's the exercise?

You lose weight when calories in is less than calories out. The band helps us to limit our calories in, but it's up to us to manage the equation.

Goodness...while I've heard of a couple days on liquids after a fill, have never heard of a 6 week protocol basicaly repeating the healing phase.
