Do I need a fill?

Hi,
I was banded on 1/3/06. I've had one fill since then. After the fill, I have had several PB's but because I tried to eat too quickly and it was always when I ate meat in large pieces. Other than that, I can eat the same amount of food as I did before surgery if I would let myself. I have lost about 23 pounds but none recently. I have been exercising 5 days a week too.
I am scheduled for a fill on 4/5/06. Do you think I need it? Is the goal of the fill to make you so that you get full quicker? I want to feel full with less food without PB's.
Thanks,
Kim

Hey Kim, Talk to your Dr about this when you go in. My Dr determines the need for a fill based on your eating habits - how much, how often, etc. Mine aims for three meals a day, 3/4 to 1C max, and 4 hours apart with no hunger in between. Your Dr may have different guidelines. A lot will also depend on what size band you have. The larger VG bands usually require more fills to find the right spot.

Talk to him and see what he suggests. And let us know what you decided. :)

Smile

Hi Kimmy,

I love that name, I use to be called Kimmy as a child and I hated it but now when I hear people call me that it brings a smile on my face.

Anyway, my doctor is very liberal with fills but I am more cautious than they are, he tells me to come back in 2 weeks if I have no restriction but I usally wait for a month. If you are not lossing weight or pouncing back and forth with the same few pounds than I would ask to see my doctor.

Fills are funny, some last a while and others only a few days, why? I don't know. I do know that restriction is good, and we must learn how to chew, chew and chew some more.

Good Luck!
