Can You Really "Fill" the Difference?

Ok, guys--

I've been banded for almost one year and have never had a fill--the reason? I got pregnant just 4 weeks after LB surgery.

So--I've been able to eat like I never got the band--occasionally, I'll have an issue with eating too fast, etc., but for the most part--doesn't even seem like I had surgery.

I go for my very first fill on March 7. I am extremely worried that I have damaged the band or stretched my upper pouch or something...and the band won't work for me...all that money, time, hope...

Do fills really help? When you all are unfilled do you really notice the difference? Like you can eat a whole lot more? I'm hoping the fills will help me with restriction.

Hi Dana...and congratualtions on being a new Mommy!
As far as your LB goes, I think you should think optimistically until you have the fill on March 7. The flouroscopy should let you see how rapidly your intake passes from your pouch into the lower tummy. Without any restriction since your surgery...it is probably normal for it to pass thru rather quickly. Keep in mind that you made need more than one fill before feeling restriction...we are all different in that respect.
Keep your chin up...and let us know how it goes! Good luck Sweetie and hug Lily for me! Dreamer

Fills do more than help - they are what makes the band work. If you've been unfilled, its highly doubtful you'll have damaged the band.

And the beauty of it is now you're ready to work with it, its there and waiting!
