Checking In

Hey Everyone,
I'm not sure if I'm who you are referring to, I'm Sams, better known as Sharon, yes another one.
I am really excited because when I got home I got a message from the surgeon with APPROVAL! I am scheduled for the 12th.
What a crazy mess today, because I called the insurance co myself today and was told it was denied because they don't cover anything but surgery for obesity. I told them that last time I checked lap band surgery was surgery! She is calling me back tomorrow. I believe the surgeon's office. They won't operate with approval.

Yes Yes, I was referring to you. Oh my gosh, another Sharon. Reminds me of my nursing class. There were so many Sharons we went by our middle names so I was Ann. So I will call you Sams. I bet your middle name is Ann too. Well I'm glad you are scheduled and I hope the ins. thing gets straightened out.
I finally found a place for water work outs. Went this aft and it felt so good. Now tthat we're home I'm starting to feel stiff. I hate not being able to take NSAIDs

Nice getting to know you. Keep in touch.

Yes, I am an Ann also. It must have been the rage of that time. I know I need to stop taking some of my meds next week. I think I will be hurting by the time of surgery. My knees have been killing me lately so I started taking some meds I had. It made such a huge difference. I sure know where you are coming from

Hi Sallie, My little Sophie is maltese and bichon. I love maltese. I actually went to buy a maltese. The breeder had 2 maltese puppies and he had 2 puppies that were from a maltese Mom that he had breed to his new bichon male. I fell in love with Sophie. He called them teddy bears. I see a lot of little dogs called teddies. Somebody on one of the boards has 2 cute maltpoos. They are darling too. They are her avator. You may have seen them.

Hi sfeiner, One of mine is a MalBichon. My niece told me her dog was Maltese and would I breed Emma with hers. soo I did and her dog was malbichon. I had Emma fixed and Nolee. I love them both. I was upset at first but it turned for the best anyway. The vet said that Emma should not have any more because she was to small (she was the runt of the litter). The 2 she had almost killed. the first one died. well enough of that. we are have another snow strom tonite into tomorrow. expecting about 9 to 14 inches.I am real tired of this and want spring to come soon.

Go to Edit Signature... copy/paste the bbc code, not the url. there is a tutorial somewhere on this site that will walk you through it if that doesn't work.

We have had over 30 inches of snow just this month. It is the first winter of
this kind in quite a few years (like 10 or 15). I am looking forward t o my first appt. and getting started. Until that happens I will
keep on reading and enjoying the encouragement that
you gals give to each other. sallie

I'm here!

Phyll--your pictures look wonderful!

I have just gotten my referral from my from my internist and I am going to an orientation meeting on March 6th.

I have been trying to lose weight for about 15 years. At first it was 10 lbs or so, now it is 70 lbs.

Five years ago I had an abdominal blood clot and when they tried to heparinize me I hemorrhaged and had to have 14 units of blood and packed cells. I was in the hospital for 31 days. My kidneys began to fail, I got a couple of strange infections and was extremely sick and on morphine when I got home. Slowly, slowly I started to recover. I had an hematoma the size of a basketball in my abdomen which didn't absorb for almost three years. Of course I was very out of shape and depressed.

Almost exactly one year later, when I had just started to feel better, I fainted for an unknown reason and fell down 13 steps and landed on my head on the concrete. I had a brain bleed and lost a lot of my memory.

Needless to say I have grown even more depressed and out of shape. I have gained 45 more pounds. I'm to the point where of course none of my clothes fit and I don't want to buy "fat" clothes, so I either wear almost the same thing every time I go out or, I don't get dressed at all and spend most of my time in bed reading and watching TV.

My family is very exasperated with me. They don't understand my memory loss very well and they are disgusted with how "I have let myself go!"

I will be very happy to hear from any and all of you and thank you so much.

Hi everyone, glad to find this group. My surgery is scheduled for next Friday. Question- does it take us 60+ longer to bounce back after surgery? My son's wedding is 3 weeks after my surgery and I was just wondering how ya'll think I might be feeling by then. Thanks.

bouncing back

I'll bet we do take longer bouncing back. I'm a newbie.......was banded last Monday, Mar. 3. Can't wait to start full liquids tomorrow. I'm itching like crazy now. Anyone know of a remedy? Pain's not been too bad, just when I cough or sneeze. It's kind of been a tough go though, as my husband came down with a terrible flu the day before my surgery, and is still pretty miserable. So I've been cooking and caring for him, poor guy. On top of that, this week is when the roofers decided to come put a new roof on the house! We'd been waiting for them for months. oh well. Went to a local support group yesterday, then to the grocery store. Came home totally wiped out! So glad I found you guys. It took a few days to find the New 60+. Hope this group will be active!

My surgery was last summer. As I remember (), I bounced back pretty quick! Sounds like you had a VERY active first post-op week!! Click the image to open in full size.

No magic cure for the itching. It will go away soon. You will be enjoying those full liquids tomorrow! Sounds like you are really doing well. Hang in there.. it gets better with each day!

Haven't seen you for a few days Phyll. Good to see you today.
Lonestar and Alafish...It may take us longer to bounce back but I never read a lots of moaning and groaning from the older group. I think we are tough. We've had enough pain in our lives to know the difference between real pain and some discomfort. Or in my case , I have CRS (can't remember s**t) so maybe I was in horrible pain and just forgot it :)
