Newbie

Greetings everyone. Luckily I was able to find this website. I am in process of deciding to have the lap band procedure done. I am encountering a little bit of resistance with the medical establishment. I am 50 yrs old, 5'6" and weigh in at about 178. So far I have not been too successful in finding
a doctor who would be willing to do this procedure. I am prepared to pay myself. Any feedback or suggestions will be appreciated.

Hi, Inamed, makers of the Lap Band system have guidelines for prospective patients.

The US FDA has stricter guidelines.

But with a bmi of only 27, you are only overweight...not even obese....the cdc considers a bmi of 30 or greater to be obese.

Congrats on being only 3 bmi points above 'normal'.

Since the band treats morbid obesity...you are very far away from that.

But that's Inamed....maybe you could find another manufacturer that treats just people overweight and not obese.

Good luck and don't give up on weight loss.
