Curious to know if anyone has had plastic surgery deemed medically necessary by a proffesional and has it covered by insurance?

Many insurances that cover something will only cover a panniculectomy which is the removal of the hanging stomach skin, and only if it is deemed medicaly neccesary due to rashes and such. Very few will cover anything beyond that.

They will sometimes cover breast reduction, if you have a medical history of problems caused by heavy breasts such as back or shoulder pain, or rashes under the breasts. A friend of mine who is not obese had her reduction covered by insurance.

I've heard of insurance also covering brachioplasty, but that's fairly rare from what I've heard. And, as the other poster mentioned, they will cover the panni, under certain conditions.
