leg body lift

One of the main reasons I am having Lap Band is to lose enough to remove a tumor on my left leg. The plastic surgeon said I needed to lose 100 lbs before he could remove it.

I'm wondering what weight does everyone get down to before having a lower body lift or leg surgery of another kind?

Well it all depends. Your situation may be a bit different because the type of tumor may dictate when you have your surgery. Most doctors recommend not having any plastic surgery until a year after reaching your goal, because during that time the skin does regain some elastcity and shrink. Not all the way, but some what. Then the plastic surgery can achieve the best results.

Now a tumor removal is something different. It is similar to a question I had about apron removal. If it needs to be done before all the weight is lost, then are you prepared to have more surgery when you have reached goal? If so than having the surgery before you reach goal is a fine thing to do.

Is the tumor malignant? Or just a hinderance and a possible future risk?

Thank you, Amy.

My tumor is behind my left knee. It isn't cancer. The CAT Scan showed two cysts and the tumor. What they think is that it is an older cyst that became hard and started gathering tissue. It is hard and weighs 50 lbs on its own.

I think I will try to hold off for at least six months, then have the tumor removed. THEN I can exercise easier and lose the rest.

I would be happy to do a second body lift when I reach my goal weight.

This may be an obvious question but...have you gotten a few second opinions on the removal of the tumor??? It seems you will have to lost weight, however the tumor itself weighs 50 pounds? Perhaps they can remove it without general anesthesia which is probably the risk factor with your weight. Maybe a local??? I don't know but I would look around while losing the weight. Maybe another doc in a large metropolitan hospital would be willing to help you out. I don't know where you live but it is always worth checking out other specialists.
