Now I made a loaded potatoe
(minus the bacon of course)
Baked potatoe
reduced fat sour cream
butter or margarine
bit of salt or pepper to taste
onions, green peppers (just to replace the feel of the bacon)
I used some chinese onions too.

I started mushies today and I was worried about cheese. So you don't have any problems with it?

nope no problems with cheese here. Has to be as is shredded...can't heat up thought.
Last night I made:
Steamed vegetables
mixed some tofu once they were really soft...
mixed all together the tofu and the steamed veggies.... dropped a dot of olive oil....and voila...
kind of fun making up recipes...
something about putting things in the blender that doesn't convince me...I just can't do it...I'd rather try to be creative with my own recipes.

So shredded cheese is ok? Finely shredded? Do you use low-fat cheeses? (sorry for all the questions!) My dietitian recommends mushys to be "pureed" . . . I'm just unsure if shredded cheese is a mushy.
I'm definitely gonna try the egg beaters with salsa . . . that sounds soooo good! One food I'm missing the most is any type of mexican. The potato salad sounds great too! (I'd havta add some yellow mustard as well )
Thanks again for the great recipes 4jin!

I've been putting shredded cheese in everything once I found out it didn't bother me. Try the cream of Broccoli soup. It's wonderful with cheese. I put it all in the microwave together so it melts the cheese. YUM! I just had cream of potatoe with the melted cheese for lunch. It was also good. Good Luck!!

Both cream of Broccoli and cream of potato sound sooo good! I'll definitely try this! Maybe some shredded cheese with the egg beaters/salsa would work too (even if just a little cheese, don't wanna add too many calories!).

| Just started eating chicken...
I was given the OK to start having chicken and fish Wednesday and although I LOVE being able to eat more than just refried beans and cottage cheese I have to say I wake up hungry. Does anyone have this problem after being allowed to eat solids? Also, I've lost a total of 15 pounds (1st week after surgery) and have not lost anything in 2 weeks. Has anyone experienced this as well?

Don't get discouraged yet, Cindy. After I went for my first fill two weeks ago, I didn't notice ANY difference in how hungry I am between meals. I went for fill #2 yesterday, and told them how disappointed I was. They agreed to give me a larger fill, and low and behold, today I don't feel hungry at all. In fact, I got half way through a protein bar this morning and put it down, because I just didn't want the rest. After about two hours I ate the rest, but it took a while to finish. Now it's lunch time, and I'm not the slightest bit interested in eating anything. This is what the band is all about... making food a necessity and not an obsession. I expect that it will take another fill or two to make this feeling last long term. They say that the next day after a fill is always the tightest, but I'm really encouraged today. If I can feel like this long term, I'm confident I can meet my goal. I, too, lost a lot of weight in the first week or two after surgery, then it's been slow going since. And I've been getting hungry between meals, too, making the process more difficult. I know it's going to get better from now on, though. Don't even count on the band helping too much for the first two or three months. You're pretty much on your own until you've had three or four fills. It will work it's magic after that.

Thanks for the encouragement kjeter, my first fill is 4/18/08 and am optomistic that when I start the fills my hunger will go away. I will let my doctor know exactly what I've been feeling, hopefully he takes pity and gives me a larger fill.

I was banded on 2/19/08 and I received my first fill yesterday afternoon. I can really tell a difference on how much I can eat. Until the fill I didn't even feel like I was banded. I was hungery and could eat anything without it bothering me. Today is another story. YEAH!!! I am not hungery and when I was I could only eat a small amount.
