Bruising around the port!!!

I was banded May 1. I have a nasty bruise at the port area about the size of a tennis ball. Has anyone else had this?

Sure!

You notice that your port incision is bigger than the others? That's because that's where they slide the band and the port in, while the other just have thin tubes for, like, inflating the belly during surgery and whatnot. They use one incision for the port and the band itself, so obviously they're going to have to reach in and stretch things around a bit, and force the port into its final position. The end result? Bruising.

Mine cleared up after a couple of weeks.

So, yeah, completely normal!

Congrats on the band, and welcome to the group!

Not to worry it will heal, its normal! I had it badly and i even get black bruising when i get adjustments, different skin types bruise differently.
The above poster is also spot on. :-)

Yup, Fenton is right on - and yes this is normal. Mine lasted 2-3 weeks...
