The border guard that saw us didn't look at anything! He asked me if I just left the clinic, how I liked Mexico, if I saw anything promising for me, and if I was crazy enough to go back! Apparently my answers were acceptable! He said "take care of yourself" and waved goodbye!

Hey girlfriend,
Dr. Sanchez office, (Judy) said all we need is D.L. and Birth Certificate with the official seal thing. I went to get a passport 4 weeks ago and they said he took 4 to 6 weeks and it would be too chancey. Since we're leaving in a couple of days I would just grab the B.C. Can you believe how close it is. Email me tonight if you get time.
Love ya,
Sherri

I work for an airline and I can tell you that any birth certificate and or marriage license has to be an ORIGINAL state issued with a seal. Not the cute one from the hospital with your little baby feet on it. If you are married (name doesn't match birth certificate) then you need proof of how you got to your current name - with some people that can be numerous divorce decrees and marriage licenses. Trust me, with all the new kiosk check in equipment - one is well advised to just get your passport. One young woman was so unsure of what to bring she brought her whole darn baby book with her!! If you are flying internationally, by biggest piece of advice is ARRIVE EARLY just in case.
I could go on and on about travel tips, but I guess that's a different forum.

City: Orlando State: Florida | Hi there, Just came back from Dr. Ortiz in Tijuana yesterday and they only looked a my drivers liscense and never checked a bag.We were in a van provided by the clinic and most cars were being waved right through with a glance at their liscense. Pretty weird...Eve P.S: Doesn't make you feel real secure about the border, eh?

Eve, what time did you leave TJ yesterday?
I left Ortiz' office yesterday, also, but was not in their van. There was a line about 1/8 mile long to walk through the border crossing, and the cars were lined up for miles. This was in the mid-afternoon. The cars that were crossing were moving very slowly and there were border patrol agents searching every car. There were also special lanes for cars with certain passes, and a lane for buses and vans. Those moved faster. I paid $5 for a van to drop me off in one of the quicker lanes. It still took me 90 minutes to get across the border. It looked like a 2-4 hour wait for the cars and others in line.
What did I learn? Don't try to go to TJ on Saturday afternoon for fills!
I only needed my driver's license also. That will change on Dec. 31 of this year, though.

I heard starting 1/1/06, a passport is required for Canada and Mexico. However, I'm not sure if it went through or not.

It is getting much stricter out there when it comes to travel....to be on the safe side you should always have a passport, can save yourself a lot of grief.
