Hello,

I am going to have surgery in Mexico and have been talking with mylapbandsurgery.com. Has anyone had any experience with them, their doctors and the facility. They state you also get free fills for life if you use thier program thru fillcentersusa. Right now they are advertising $6750.00

I would just suggest doing a search on this forum for the name betancourt. You'll probably be VERY surprised at what you read.

Oh my goodness, Betancourt. I would do a search here for "Betancourt" and "Molding Clinic". There is much to be found.

Oh, and contact IDs here Innertube and NataliesMommy, they have first hand info on experiences.

Thanks I have been researching ( the research nevers ends it seems like) I have noticed most of the negative is old and i do believe a clinic can turn itself around positively. Given that I am not convinced to go and sent them some questions that I have compiled off of this and other forums. I wish there was a complete listing of places in mexico that offered the service so i could research them invidually. I was supposed to pay my deposit this week but may hold off now.

No, it's not all old.

I would contact Innertube and see what she has to say about her experience meeting the doctors and Patti Lissberger.

Keep in mind, once you send a deposit Betancourt is one that will not refund.

Don't send anyone a deposit for more than $500 (that's standard) and no more than a week or two before surgery regardless of where you go. There is one person that wanted to go there and she paid in full for her surgery (before getting there) and changed her mind. They refused to refund her $7-8K. She had to fight them through her credit card company.

Thanks good advice on the deposit. I was not going until June but was going to pay it this week.

Oh my... don't do that with ANY doctor! I don't care who they are. What if you change your mind? What if you don't want surgery or what if you want a different doctor? What if they don't send you required info such as pre op diets and such? What if you just don't like how you are treated before you get surgery and after you pay the deposit? Some docs will refund a deposit (the good ones), and some won't.

Now, if someone pays a deposit and claims they will be there I don't blame a doc for not refunding if the patient doesn't show up for surgery. But to demand a deposit that early is not in your best interest. It is in the doc's best interest.

Never ever ever ever pay for surgery before you get there. What if you don't like the facility? The doctors? The staff? When you get there and see everything then you pay. Never send the deposit until close to your surgery, never more than $500.

NO doctor is so busy he can only hold a surgery date for you with a deposit months early. They want your business, you are a consumer here as well as a patient. You have the upper hand. Use it to your advantage.

please be careful the person you are going through uses betancourt medical and they don't use doctors who use the inamed bands. I almost went through them but I ended up reserching lapbandinternational.com and they use the hospital and real doctors and they care about you!

try lapbandinternationl.com as they use inamed bands and a real doctor and real hospital and there cost is lower.
