If my memory is correct Dr. Fox hosted my 1st weight loss seminar. I flew Fairbanks, Alaska to Sea-Tac about 10 years ago. I talked with him at clinic in Tacoma and attended seminar at an Auburn Hospital. They had a tie in, for self pays in Monterrey, Mexico. Everything was positive. I can't remember if LAP-BAND ® was allowed in U.S. then. I do remember Dr. Fox feeling my small finger bone & saying after surgery I would weigh 160 pounds & have a 32 inch waist. I lost my insurance & job. Didn't get back to Auburn. I quit smoking & lots of other fun stuff. Got rotator cuff & spine fusion operations out of the way. Banded 1/15/08. Dr Soong, Las Vegas, Nevada. 117 pounds lost. Thanks for info on forums & Thanks Dr. Fox for introducing me to weight loss. In 10 years the band become very popular. I'm glad I waited till I was ready. Like I said all my contacts were positive. At the time it was the best weight loss clinic & closest to Alaska. Good luck all. hasta Pronto, George P.S. Since band I have quit bread, pasta, morphine, potatoes & a bunch of other fun stuff. |

Well after reading all the posting this morning on the blog. I will just say the following; first Dr Earl Fox and Staff are great, they go out of they way to make you understand and feel comfortable with the decision you made.
When I asked Dr Fox how many deaths that he has had because of the surgery he explain that he has had two in 500. Both are non-related to the surgery. I then asked every nurse I came across in both the hospital and friends and they all have high regard to the man. I was referred by my PCP to Dr Fox and have not had a minute of disappointment.
I look forward to Tuesday when he does the banding, I fully feel comfortable with his ability and look forward to the promise of the better quality of my life.

One of the first things I got here is to find out out how many lapbands has the doctor done. Not how many overall weight loss surgeries, but specifically LAP-BAND® surgeries. Were you satisfied with your original research on this Dr. FOX.
I admit there is one doctor mentioned here that I would now avoid, just because of a couple of negative feedbacks. Others claim he is wonderful, but I wouldnt want him to do my surgery. I went with a different choice.

TWO is a pretty high percentage imo (highest Iv ever read 2 out of only 500 lapbands). Of course the doctor is going to say nothing to do with his surgery. Again my two cents. If you think these stats are not worrying, then ok, its not my decision.
Also, 500 lapbands is not very many. Most surgeons have more experience, at least all the doctors I considered.

I'm using Dr. Ross McMahon. I like him a lot, but they just moved offices and things are a bit confusing right now. But everyone is really nice and I trust his background.

Okay, I talked to Dr. Fox and was amazed at how some physicians count the number of problems related to any surgery. First, the 500 Lap Bands is correct however, Dr Fox is also a surgeon who has years of experience in the field. I completely trust his guidance, the final responsibility rests with the patient. If something does not sound correct, question it. Like I stated before, I am completely comfortable with Dr. Fox and his staff; they are fantastic. Banded on Tuesday, have dropped 20 lbs since July 6th.

I wouldn't go to anyone with less than 250, so 500 is totally acceptable.
Good luck to you!
