Dr. Stephen Hamn, AAA+++++

Dr. Hamn has done good by me. The process has been easy. Had surgery on Monday and I'm doing good.

We didn't talk about pain management, but he went ahead and install a pain pump. I don't know if that made a difference, but I can honestly say that my pain was minimal throughout my recovery. Granted, I'm only 3 days post-op. I might feel differently in a week or two about the pain, but for now, I'm good.

I recommend Dr. Hamn if you live in Plano, TX. His partner is Dr. Cribbons. I don't know about him, but I hear the women love his looks. He checked me during rounds and he looks like a handsome guy, better than his online picture.

Personally, I don't care what the doc looks like, as long as they are experienced and Dr. Hamn is.

Could anyone tell me how long to expect the recovery period will be after lap-band®. How long before returning to work?

I had my surgery last Monday. I return to work this coming Monday.

I'm glad you two are having good results with him. My dear friend Sally and her friend both got banded by Dr. Hamn in 2005 and they said it was done wrong and both had major issues and had to get the bypass. Maybe he's gotten more experience over the last few years, so it's good to hear you both had good experiences.

Thanks! and it's been a pleasure reading your posts!! It's nice to see a happy person with the band :-) I read one recently about your wife and the bypass... I wonder if there is anything else they can do so she gets more nourishment...

If your friend and her friend that had the LAP-BAND® by Dr. Stephen Hamn failed, it was not becasue it was done wrong.I had a band with Dr. hamn and I have lost 105 lbs. in little over a year. I followed everything he told me to do, and it works. Dr. Hamn has had huge success with his LAP-BAND® patients. He is one of the most experienced bariatric surgeons in Texas. Remember,the band is only a tool. Many people fool themselves and eat too many calories, then blame it on the band or the fills. The patient has to take responsibilty for how many calories a day they are consuming. If a band patiet is having problems, then they are probably eating too much and filling up their esophagus. With a LAP-BAND® you really have to eat slowly, chew your food really well, do not drink fluids until after your meal, and count your calories. A patient can really create problems themselves with their band if they do not follow the rules. Let's stop blaming the doctor's and take some responsibilty for our own failures or successes with our eating habits.

I am due for surgery on the 17th of Aug. by Dr. S. Hamn. I glad to see a mix of reviews, I totally understand that not everyones surgery is going to be perfect, but overall I have heard more positive about him than negative. I am just ready to get it doine and start my new life!! Good Luck to all of you and I hope we all reach our goals!!!

Well, I'm over a year and half post-op and I'm still alive and kicking. I haven't lost more weight, but that's my fault, not the band or the surgery. I haven't gained too much back.

I'm happy I did it because I can do more than when I was 350 lbs. I look better and feel better.

There are times, sometimes often, when I wish I hadn't done it, but if I think it was necessary.
