DeLarla, I know there is a thread somewhere in here about "fake fills" I think. Gotta run but when I get on later, if you haven't found it, I'll search and bump it. Pretty sure GeezerSue wrote it, very interesting! Ya, I'd be livid, too. My world to me is hard enough, playin games like that...No, there's no place for that.

Hmm very interesting Lisa..

I will have to look into that one..

It would be hard to give a fake fill since you are there present watching the fluid go in the entire time and can feel him close you off completely. He shows you the needle with the saline in it and then shows you the needles again after he romoves it from your port so you can see first hand how much saline he added. Ortiz does not do the fills in his office Martinez does. The only time Ortiz does fills now is when Martienz is out of town. Since I have had 3 fills and have seen every single one of them under flouro it would be difficult to think he could give me a placebo fill. I see the difference in the speed of the barium going through the band before and after the fill.. Besides how do you fake restriction? I know I have more restriction with 2.5ccs then I did with 2cc's I have lost 8 pounds in less then a month with this fill

My first fill was done by Martinez of 1.1cc's and my 2nd done by Ortiz because Martinez was out of town of .9 ccs to give me a total of 2 cc's. When I went back for my 3rd fill I had Martinez again. He asked how much I had in my band..I told him I was not going to tell him until he removed all of the saline to see how accurate my fill was..well he removed exactly 2cc's and said ok you have 2'ccs..he was right on the money. He had no chart in the room.. to know that...
I think Inamed tell us all what we want to hear becasue when I was researching the band I was told personally by an employee at Inamed that Ortiz was one of the best and has traveled all over the world teaching this to doctors in the Phillipenes, Germany..I guess all of the doctors Inamed trains are considered thier top proctors.
Also I have spoken to Ortiz and his staff about the typos in his book I went through it with a highlighter pen and showed them all to them..from what I was told the original batch from the first orders being sent out had all the typos like the upside down pictures , spelling errors etc.. the new batch has been corrected. Ortiiz did not type the book he just wrote it..

I sure hope thogh what you are saying is not true..for me I know it has not been but who knows if the tides are changing...Hopefully I will not have to find out since I'm praying Iwill get to goal with this last fill :)

Michelle,

I never had a fill w/Martinez. I haven't heard any negatives.

Rest-of-y'all,

I've never attended a bariatric surgeon's conference. But I've spoken to several bariatric surgeons who have. Apparently, at least a couple of the surgeons who have the Lap Band themselves were offended by the concept of the "Psychological Fill." But it might be good to ask THEM who offered up the concept. Those debates aren't open to us average folks.

And, I'm recovering remarkably quickly...

Leo!!!!

I know this kind of bickering makes you crazy. But for some of us, it's invigorating and we go home and say to ourselves..."Wow! I'd never thought of it THAT way." But I'm sorry for the discomfort you--and the other gentle souls--experience during these things. Would it help to explain that the first award I won in college was for debate?

Michelle,

On your way to Penni's, stop here and we'll go get a pedicure or something.

Wow...hostile crowd we got going here!

I came to this website to get information about other people's personal experiences. I am still in the research phase of trying to select a physician. I found most of the postings helpful except....the second hand tale about a doctor's clothing at a wedding. No one on this site, not even the poster, can say for 100 % sure if this alleged outrageous wedding behavior even took place. The anecdote does not reflect on his personality, his commitment to patients, his ethics, or his surgical ability. I think it's important to keep strictly to sharing our first-hand experiences.

Incidentally, if we are judging people by their behavior at weddings, I have some confessions:

I drank way too much at my cousin's wedding in 1987 and got totally sick. Even worse, I was underage.

I lied to get out of buying an ugly bridesmaid dress for my friend's wedding.

I ate more than my share of shrimp at the buffet table at a recent wedding.

Perhaps there is a board out there where people are maligning me for my selfish and evil ways...

If you've joined and dropped in to tell us we're not behaving to your satisfaction...

...then those weddings are NOT the only places your behavior could have used some improvement.

If you are really here to garner information, then you should try reading...not correcting those of us who actually have information to share. If you're really here to garner information. But the likelihood of THAT....

Jeeze...I just LOOK like this, I'm really quite bright.

Conspiracy Theorist in the house???

Let me assure you, yes, I am here to get information. I am not part of a subversive group whose mission is to make sure that Dr. Ortiz's clothes changing wedding behavior does not spread across the internet.

Yes, I did read quite extensively throughout the website and found the information to be helpful, honest, and intuitive. With one exception. Yours!!!You say you "actually have information to share."

And this information is....that you heard Dr. Ortiz changed his clothes at a wedding reception? Oh dear God, now that I know this, I would never go see him!!! What if he changes clothes during surgery?

Thank you for sharing this important information. You are providing an important service to those of us who pretend to seek information on this web site.

Oh...I truly apologize for being so insolent as to express my opinion. Apparently, from reading your postings, you seem to argue that you have that right. I'm not sure why that right doesn't extend to me. Probably because of my super secret subversive plot to make your argument look illogical. But then, you didn't need me for that.

Dang. You stole my idea to start a super secret subversive plot!! :(

This dumb procrastination thing. Now I have to come up with something different and original. But no time to think about what that may be at the moment. Maybe tomorrow...

....

LoLs Sue, whatever goes on on LBT can NEVER get as worse as on the yahoo boards. Debate is certainly a good thing and everyone has the right to his/her own opinion.

I think opinions should be posted here. If someone can't make their own judgement of a Doctor when they meet him\her and instead make their judgement of the Doctor by what other's say, they need more help then they think.

Did that make sense???

Opinions are like a**holes, everyone has them and they all stink!!!

Have a great day!!

Don't apologize...get help.

You have an interesting approach to seeking help. You have an interesting understanding of description and nuance, especially for an adult. If your paraphrasing of my statements is your best understanding of what I had to say, then...as they say down south...Bless Your Heart.
