Just to clarify- Flouro refers to a machine that allows them to see your insides like an x-ray machine. It moves in real time an they can see what they are doing with the needle and with having you drink while on the machine. It is not something that gets injected into you. All bands,to my knowledge, just get injected with saline all the time.

Dr. P. uses a sonogram to locate the port and that aids in not getting stuck or missing the port when getting fills. I beleive Dr. P. only uses flouro if the port is difficult to access (flipped port) or if there are leakage concerns.

T

Hope this helps.

Hi!
My lap banding operation went well. I was operated on in the morning (5/17/05) and was released that same day around 4PM. I was a self pay and the price was exactly as stated. Dr. Pleatman was great to work with and provided great council. My incisions have all healed very nicely. They are very small. The only discomfort was the first week when I had some shoulder pain from the gas. Walking and heat helps and I walked a lot. We were concerned about the 5 hour drive back to Wisconsin but stopped each hour to walk to prevent blood clots. Incisions felt like bee stings for 4-5 days and you feel like you were hit in the chest for a couple days. You are tired the first week from the liquid diet. I was back fishing in a week and golfing in two weeks. I lost 20 lbs. due to the all liquid diet but after a couple weeks I was eating normal food. However I am not restricted much and can over eat at this point. I am looking forward to getting my first fill in a couple weeks (6/27/05) so that I can't cheat as much. Its going to be a long journey but I feel more in control than ever and I think it was the right choice.
If you have any further questions, Please ask.

Ron

Thank you T, even knowing this little bit helps. Since Dr. Pleatman didn't do my surgery I was wondering how he did this. Not a big needle fan and I guess I am getting a little nervous.

LapBand FAQ

I've started writing a Lap Band Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) Page for my website. I would welcome any criticism or additional questions that I might be able to answer. Check it out at www.laparoscopy.com/pleatman and click on "Lap Band FAQ."

Thanks
