Dr. Jaime Ricardo Ramos Kelly

Hello, everyone. Has anyone been banded by Dr. Ramos Kelly in TJ? If so, can you share your experience. I'm leaving on Thursday to be banded in TJ on Friday. I've spoken with his pt. coord., Shannon, many times and I love her. I just have not read much about him on the web. He has a fantastic resume and the Hospital Angeles looks wonderful. I'm just hoping for some feedback from anyone here.

Thanks,
Amy

My experience was great. I was trying to decide between Dr. Rumbaut, Dr. Joya, and Dr. Kelly. My decision was ultimately made because of Shannon, his patient coordinator. She made me feel so at ease and comfortable with the decision. She is so responsive and it really helped to know that I could call her anytime to ask whatever I wanted. She was there with me every step of the way, literally. She is there with you in Mexico during your surgery.

Dr. Kelly is wonderful. I met him the day before my surgery. They had me arrive in San Diego fairly early and I was in Dr. Kelly's office around noon the day before my surgery. They took some blood for lab work and had me pee in a cup. Then we went down to a cafe with Shannon to sign all the paperwork. Then I got to meet Dr. Kelly and Dr. AJ. They both spent about an hour or so answering all my questions and asking me background health information. I'm a pretty straightforward case in that I'm physically healthy other than being obese. Everyone was so kind and gentle. He listened to everything I had to say. After that, we went to the hosptial and got checked in. Dr. Kelly has his patients stay overnight the night before surgery so he can get started very early the next morning on surgery. They did a chest x-ray that day as well and then I was admitted to my room. I can't say enough how beautiful Hosptial Angeles was. The nursing staff was great, but they do not speak English well. That's where Shannon came in handy. Her Spanish is perfect. I spent the rest of that day relaxing and napping. We went out later for some supper. I was able to eat some soup. Dr. Kelly came in to check on me and ask if I had any more questions before the big event. I thought that was so nice. Then the cardiologist came in and did my EKG and went over all of my blood work. He spent about 30-45 minutes with me which was great. He was very knowledgable and very nice.

The next morning they wheeled me down to the OR. Dr. Kelly was waiting for me there. He squeezed my arm a lot and showed me my band. Then the next thing I knew I was waking up in recovery. Dr. Kelly came to see me in recovery and gave me a hug. Everything went wonderfully. I rested most of that day and he even came in again that night to check on me at about 9:00. Shannon was always there too. If she was not in the hospital, she was not far away. I had a wonderful experience. I was fortunate to not have much pain and absolutely no nausea.

I spent another night in the hospital and did great. They gave me plenty of pain medication and a little medication to help with sleep too. They also gave me anti-nausea meds even though I wasn't feeling nauseous. They don't want you to throw up. The next morning I went down for my barium swallow to make sure everything looked good. Then it was off to the hotel for a night. Just more relaxing and resting there. I walked the halls frequently and by the next morning I was ready to go home. Everything was so smooth. Dr. Kelly and the rest of his team was there to say goodbye.

Since my surgery I've lost 12 pounds. My surgery was on 1/19 and I'm feeling so good about my decision.

I was so glad of your experience. I am having surgery by him on the 16th of this month. Next Friday! Are you still doing well? I sure hope so. I got an email from Shannon that she wont be able to be with me due to a family emergency, so that freaks me out a little since no one is going with me, since I am coming from Mobile, Alabama. Let me hear how you are doing.

Re: Dr. Jaime Ricardo Ramos Kelly

Yes, I was banded on 5/19/09 and have had a great experiance with Dr. Ramos Kelly. TJ was fun, ofcourse I didnt go looking for trouble I went for medical reasons an felt totally safe the entire time.

Dr. Kelly's Assistant Gabby tok me all around the town and I took some great pictures! It was neat to see the different types of trees plants that we dont have here in Oregon. Another thing I noticed was the work ethic, people really husseled to sell what ever ect. Maybe we can get a little of that in my home town.....

One of the best things about the experiance is that Dr. Kelly was so attentive! What a change from the US Doctors I have been to. He was not in a hurry and made me feel like he was totally available answering all of my MANY questions. Even before I "booked" the LAP-BAND® surgery with him he talked with me directly for on a free phone consultation! This was a new experience for me also. Looking back I would go back there and do it again in the blink of an eye.

I could'nt ask for more in a Surgeon whom I trusted my life to. Thier follow up as a team is awsome! Explained every pain and discomfort. I will go again!

Maybe the reason you dug up a year old thread to talk about how much you like Kelly is because you work for him.

This is your 3rd or 4th ID on LBT to push this doctor. At least you admit in another thread that you do, indeed, work for him.

bah....
