Yes, my daughter, husband and I have all had surgery with Dr Ortiz and would recommend him to anyone thinking of LBS.

i was band by Dr. Ortiz in Mexico 2/08/08 after watching the Oprah show & it was a great experience!! His whole staff was outstanding!!Best experience ive ever had with doctors & nurses! I paid 7500k & that includes everything:) http://www.myspace.com/staciamicarelli

I was scheduled to have Dr Ortiz do my lap band in January when I found a doctor in Colorado (Dr Kirshenbaum) that does the surgery for $9500. Dr Ortiz charges $8000. For me it was worth it to have a surgeon that was local so I dont have to worry about traveling for fills or any problems. It was a piece of mind decision. I would have paid another $1500 in airfare over time for the fills anyway. Good luck to you.

I was banded by Ortiz in Nov 05 and think he and his staff are wonderful. I don't regret the surgery with him in any way. After care has been more of a challenge but anyone going to mexico has to deal with that/those issues.

Sorry I didn't reply; we have been on the road. We paid $8000 each for our surgery. His normal price is $8500, so I don't know if he is running an "oprah" special right now or not! My husband and I did it together, which is why we had a reduced rate.

Hi.. I was banded by him and it cost 9500$$ at the time...
HE is wonderful and my experience with his love and care for humanity and for people gave me a whole new lease on life..
He literally sat with me on my bed and would talk to me for 20 mintutes, two times and once for 45 minutes and many times for like 10 minutes..
He shared personal things that you would never think a Doctor would talk to you like that.. like your just another person, like he is no better than he is..
and he was funny and he was witty and he was smart.
After 20 years of being treated like shit by doctors... I cant tell you how much this gave to me...
