Banded by Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum, a LapBandTalk Approved Surgeon
Attention all Illinois/Iowa/Quad Cities Residents

I just wanted to let anyone in the Quad Cities know not to use Trinity Bariatric Center if you are considering being banded. While the surgeons are excellent, they are independent of the Bariatric Center itself, which is run by Trinity Medical Center, which is a hospital owned by Iowa Health Systems. The Bariatric Center program is a train wreck-totally disorganized. If you are considering having bariatric surgery in the Quad Cities, I highly recommend that you utilize Genesis Bariatric Center in Davenport, Iowa. If you look at my other posts about my experiences with the Trinity Bariatric Center, you will understand why. If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me. And no, I am not an employee of Genesis, I am actually an employee of Trinity!! All I ask is that you check out both programs and make wise, informed choices regarding who you utilize.

Being band 15 months ago somewhere else,, I was curious about Trinity's new program and went to their free LAP-BAND® seminar. Their first seminar was disorganized and shakey. The second one was a little better. I found their coordinator very impersonable and somewhat rude,, or she had this attitude.. I checked out the Genesis program and found it very professional. Their seminars were very educational and organized. The weird thing was,, they charge $25 for their seminar,, but the room was packed. The bariatric program staff was great. If I had to choose,, I'd be going to the Genesis,, hands down. They seem to have it together.

Re: Attention all Illinois/Iowa/Quad Cities Residents

Hi .. I used to work for the Program at Genesis, and the reason there is a $25 fee for the seminar is honestly for materials (you get a HUGE packet of information) & Educator time. 99% of all classes are full and there's a waiting list. I actually had an open RNY at Trinity in 1998 and would NEVER recommend (at least at that time) their program. Genesis' program is based on Insurance requirements and it's education and follow-up post surgery is exceptional. Trinity had absolutely NO follow-up care once I had my staples & G-tube removed.

Hi Munchkin 392,
I found your post interesting and would like to read previous post you have written about the Trinity program. Could you tell me how to find them? Thanks Chloe
