I know that my new insurance plan will require a 6 month physican supervised diet. Anyone have any suggestions? I have thought of going to my PCP now and just self paying for the visit just to get things started. What do you guys think? Anyone have the same experiences?

I see my Doc in two weeks and Im going to bring it up then; but I was wondering if anyone else ever has band pain. It kind of feels like I rip something. I know in my surgery they stitched some of my stomach over the band to hold it in place, and I wonder if it is that Im tearing that when I stand up too quick or something. It usually hurts for a few days then the pain goes away and everything is back to normal.

Hello, I am courious. I have been fat my entire life. I was wondering how many people who have had the Lap Band have always been big and what their results were.

A lot of the people who I have spoken to who have gotten the LB were small growing up, then gained their weight from being pregnant, married, etc. I have always been the smallest in my family. My older sister was 750 lbs before she got the verticle banded gastroplasty when she was 18 and again when she was 22. She got down to about 450 lbs. She was scheduled to get the sleeve when she passed away 2 years ago.

I was 225 lbs in High School and then before the LB I weighed 426 lbs exactly for 7 years straight. I didn't fluctuate a pound in 7 years. I went on the Dr. supervised diet as the requirement for my surgery and I got down to 360 lbs. Before surgery, 6 months after the 6 month diet, I was back up to 390 lbs. Took me so long because I had to quit smoking. (Worse than any diet!!)

I have lost 15 lbs since the surgery, and I go in for my first fill in one week from today. My concern is that I will never be "normal" sized. I know that I will never be a size 2, but I am courious if anybody else out there was fat their entire life and what kind of results you have had from the surgery.

Thanks.

I had surgery 10/21/2009. I am scheduled to go to the psychologist again this Friday. I'm wondering if anyone else was scheduled to go to the psychologist again post-op. I really don't feel like I need to go or that I'll gain anything by going. I only agreed to scheduling the appointment so that they wouldn't deny me surgery. Now that I've had surgery I want to stop going. I'm not depressed or on any depression medication and I'm not sure why they want me to go back. Is it because they think I will benefit from it? Or because they want more money from an "easy sell"? Any advice?

Hi everyone!

I've been banded for about 8 months and am down around 65-70 pounds (woo!).

Anyway, up until now, my job allowed me to wear either a t-shirt or polo shirt, and jeans (very laid back!). I just got a new job and I need to be wearing some... nicer things!

Think khakis and sweaters or button up shirts, etc. I'm not a fan of dresses (I'm still kind of uncomfortable with my weight), so that rules out a lot.

I buy my jeans from Lane Bryant but their dress pants do not fit me very well... and their tops just aren't overly work-friendly... too flashy for me.

I've found a few tops I like at CJ Banks but I don't know of any other stores that carry plus-sized clothing! I'm still a solid 22/24 in tops (thank you gut).

Any suggestions? I've found a few tops I like online but really would prefer to try things on in a store to make sure they fit well.

Any help would be greatly, greeeeatly appreciated!!

He said since it doesn't bother me he wasn't going to take it out when he was banding me. Well now, a little over 3 months and 37 lb.s lost, it's giving me trouble. Not bad, crazy pain....just discomfort. I want it out before I have any attacks! I just really wish he would have taken it out 3 months ago!! I just don't want to have to recover from another surgery so close to my last one. I'm a mommy to 3 boys, a wife and teacher...I don't have time for this!!

Sorry for the ranting. Just wondering if anyone else had to do this and if the recovery was similar to the band recovery, which wasn't bad at all for me!

-Mashed Potatoes
-Stuffing
-Green Bean Casserole (blech)
-Cranberry Sauce
-Smooshed Sweet Potatoes

and that's about it. None of these are really healthy choices. Anyone have any ideas of a mushy semi-healthy dish that I could bring that wouldn't be out of place at Thanksgiving?

Thanks!

Starting to struggle a bit . . . was banded the end of May and have only lost about 30-35 pounds. I am now at about 200 pounds and would like to lose about 50 more. I have had about 3 fills am definitely not at the "sweet spot" yet. My weight loss has plateaued for about 2-3 months! Is this normal? I am doing my best to eat healthy, but I can surely eat more than a cup! I can't imagine that amount of food filling me yet.

Also . . .
Could you share what you eat for breakfast that involves little to no cooking? Also, what do you all typically eat for lunch? Dinner?

I am getting tired of a cheese stick and yogurt for breakfast and need inspiration and words of encouragement!

I have had the worst time finding someone to do my psych eval. TriCare requires that the provider have PhD or MD credentials and gives the MMPI as part of the evaluation. The doctor my surgeon recommended does not take TriCare. My guy is not a PhD. TriCare provided a list of Psychiatrists instead of Psychologists and they don't do neuropsych testing.

So, if you are in the Dallas/FW area (or quite frankly, anyplace in Texas for that matter) can you share the name of your TriCare Psychologist?

BTW, I have already used their online search but it's not much help because it doesn't list who does testing and who does not.

Thanks!
